BTW, you will need a new motherboard. Your current motherboard is way too weak (4+1 pwr phase, uncooled vrm's) I wouldn't expect to last for very long.
Go for a good Gigabyte/ASUS board

Please take this advice seriously!

I'd recommend just saving and going for an i5 2500k or waiting for bulldozer.. That's if you plan to overclock anyway.

That's a good board, I am not sure about its overall overclocking potential but it has 8+2 CPU pwr phases, which is good

I would personally wait for BD to come around (June sometime) and make a decision then. BD is a complete revamp of the AMD architecture, so its not merely a refresh.
If you can't wait till June then get the 1090T BE + motherboard you listed there

Have to get a point in for the lovely 1055T i paid £166 for mine at launch. only took a small VCore boost and enabling LLC (about 1.4v load) for me to get 4050mhz out of it (13.5 x 300).

My bro ponied up the extra for the 1090T and..... He's near enough the same as me (4+ghz) BUT his 1090T needed 1.5v!!! to get him there. Don't be tempted to overlook the "bottom of the shelf" because there are sometimes gems to be had for a lot less money....... Remember the Celeron 300A's.

Thanx.

Bundle deal if you're buying both: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.618515

That said a i5-2500k rig is a much better buy right now for it's price > performance ratio and bulldozer is coming out soon too so it's not a time I'd recommending buying anything AMD based.

Do you really need a x6 cpu? Why not save some money, grab a x4 PhenomII. Because unless you're video encoding or doing graphical designs you won't be utilising the 2 extra cores anytime soon.
