[DT] Crysis 2 Is Developed For PC First, Not Consoles. - Page 9

Obvious console port is obvious.

Oh, and to the guys that are waiting for the DX11 patch....
Keep waiting. Nvidia pulled Crysis 2 off their DX11 games list. If that doesn't tell you anything about the future DX11 of Crysis 2, well then I feel sorry for you.

IGN makes mention of it here:

There are other forums on the net that have noticed the changeup-but IGN is the first news-ish site which published about it.

Postage stamp sized MP maps and 6 v 6. A draw distance that is 1/4 of Crysis. A SP campaign not nearly as open as the original. Hmm why all the cut backs in the gameplay aspects. Perhaps because it is a console port.

OCN is mad because its not a benchmark and is an actual game. Since no one plays games on the PC anymore, it must be a console port.

It's not only about the looks, see response to lordikon. The artificial limitations imposed by Contek scream console port. There is no logcical reason for a PC to have these limitations. None, zero, zip, zilch nada. The game is a step back for PC in every aspect.

It is. The real name should be COD:Aliens Invade.

99% of games don't have Dx 11, only 5.6% of players can run it and of those 5.6% less than half can run it WELL enough to where it doesn't become a slideshow.

And the Multiplayer is MUCH better compared to Crysis 1.

Well that's one persons opinion. Lets just say it nnot mine.

I wanted to see some jungle fight, Ice levels but they gave us urban action because crappy consoles couldn't handle the huge maps....The game does look different from the console version but it isn't what i was expecting.
This. It is a step backwards in game play. No think again why the limitation. Is it inherant in the engine. Perhaps, but not likely. So what is limiting the levels and gameplay.

Very true. Don't lie. Let the consumer decide if your port is good enough to buy. But, IMO, Contek is boldface lying and that is annoying.

Very sad indeed.

Further proof your game may be a console port.

HOW TO: Fix FOV, Tweak Graphics, and use an Auto-Exec

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Make an autoexec.cfg in your 'Crysis 2' directory.
You can do this simply by copying one of the already existing *.cfg files in the folder and renaming it.

It should look like "../Crysis 2/autoexec.cfg"

2. Open the autoexec.cfg with your favorite text editor, and clear it out.

3. To fix FOV, you need to add two lines.
-cl_fov <#>
-pl_movement.power_sprint_targetFov <#>

These numbers should match, otherwise your FOV will toggle when you sprint.

4. To tweak graphics more than 3 presets, you may individually fine-tune with the following lines:
-sys_spec_gameeffects <1-3>
-sys_spec_objectdetail <1-3>
-sys_spec_particles <1-3>
-sys_spec_postprocessing <1-3>
-sys_spec_shading <1-3>
-sys_spec_shadows <1-3>
-sys_spec_sound <1-3>
-sys_spec_texture <1-3>
-sys_spec_volumetriceffects <1-3>
-sys_spec_water <1-3>

5. Enjoy!

As a sample, here is my autoexec.cfg:
Quote:

Code:
g_skipintro 1

cl_fov 75
pl_movement.power_sprint_targetFov 75

i_mouse_accel 0

sys_spec_gameeffects 1
sys_spec_objectdetail 3
sys_spec_particles 1
sys_spec_postprocessing 1
sys_spec_shading 1
sys_spec_shadows 1
sys_spec_sound 1
sys_spec_texture 3
sys_spec_volumetriceffects 1
sys_spec_water 1

If I must config an autoexe to get normal FOV options.

I wonder if Crysis 3 will be in 960*480 resolution like the phones are?
And since it will be multi platform developed it will look the same on all systems.

No DX11, no graphics options, not nearly high enough res textures, defiantly sounds like it was developed for PC first!

Honestly, out of all the games I have purchased in the last month, I can say I AM impressed with the Crysis 2 engine, graphics, and story line, I have played for 8 hours and I am still not even done with the story. I have not a single problem with the graphics either, it just sucks how we were having trouble accessing the MP, but other then that, the GAME is great, great GFX, great story, great developers. This game is unique for sure.
