I knew it!

I can barely run that thing with my 5850 and 9.12 drivers anyhow, but it still looks pretty .
Whoa there, I'm pretty sure you'll get better performance with newer drivers

i think this was a sensationalist article. the sarcasm in the end paragraph for one, and it seems as though he doesn't understand that a big part of the game was for PC gamers the graphics, and the challenge of maxing them out.

i mean it doesn't have adjustable settings beyond the presets - that does shout of something being wrong considering most games have that - even Borderlands.

i suspect he just wants to trash PC Gamers and doesn't look at why we are upset.

As with any previous PC exclusive that goes multiplatform, Crysis 2 has come under fire from the PC elitist crowd who bemoan the "dumbing down" of the game and declare -- without evidence --
there's lots of evidence. the press start to begin is just one example, as is autoaim, smaller MP player counts, no DX10 when the original had it at launch, etc. i won't pay $60 for the game (that's too much for me for 1 game) but this is what i gather from reading around here.

and yes some people do pay laods of money to play the game. i met a guy at OcUK who was buying a 9800GX2, and when i asked him why it was so he could play Crysis 1

.
That's just the "character" the writer plays, the majority of Destructoid articles have the author's input at the end.

It's just a reaction reply like all of ours to the developer's statements

In bold you have pretty much summed up what's wrong with PC gaming, at least from my perspective. I like having pretty games; I like having games that consoles cannot even dream of running.

But one thing I hate is this sucker mentality that you have to spend every cent you earn just be to be able to pc game at all. I do not desire games I cannot run well on my hardware, and I neither spend a fortune on my hardware nor do I skimp on it. My system can crack basically everything at my resolution, yet I've spent less than a grand on my complete build.

PC gaming shouldn't be a $2000 a year habit, yet if you watch these boards you'll see people spending much more than that on an annual basis, even though there is no justifiable reason for doing so. I didn't go to school and work hard just to keep ati and nividia in business and I don't understand the extreme consumerism that revolves around PC gaming.

If you have thousands of dollars to constantly upgrade your PC, great have a blast doing it, but don't get mad when no games on the market justify your obsessive compulsive spending habits.

Being angry that a game looks great and runs even better is about the stupidest thing I've ever heard, especially if you are sitting on a $200-300+ gpu.

I wonder what Nvidia and AMD think about the lack of dx11 support in games, the lack of high res textures, lack of demanding games, ect. This problem hurts them, as well as the consumer. Consumers would be more likely to upgrade if there was a need. It's almost a careless oversight on the part of Nvidia/ AMD. If I was them I would be pumping money into developers pockets ensuring their games were beneficial to the video card business instead of being counter productive. Imagine a title like Duke Nukem coming out DX11, most advanced game ever ect, ect, unplayable on low end hardware. What if AMD supported gearbox and they had a huge cooperative marketing campaign. THEY WOULD MAKE A KILLING. Graphics cards would be flying off the shelves.

Along this lines, if AMD and Nvidia were really interested in producing PC games and selling cards they would go poach some good companies, or at least the key people of good comapnies and form their own development studio. Then make some amazing PC only games.
