Can't access Asus P8P67 BIOS, just black screen...

Hi guys,
So my first build last night went fine at first - everything loaded up perfectly the first time around, I installed Windows 7 on the default settings (onto a 64gb SSD), and the OS still loads without problems.

So in other words, it seems like everything is in order, EXCEPT now, for some odd reason, when I hit DEL, or INS, or F1 at startup, the bios gives me a a solid black screen and either restarts or just hangs at a blank black screen (or a green cursor in front of a black screen if my mouse is connected). I haven't accessed the bios since I first installed the OS.

I tried resetting the CMOS to no avail, but that's really all I've tried. The only changes I can think of that have been made since the OS install (assuming it wasn't the install that caused this problem) were 1) installed the drivers that came on my ASUS P8P67 Pro Support CD, 2) installed the Radeon 6950 drivers from the website, and 3) plugged in my 1TB HDD (however, I still get the same problem when the HDD is unplugged from the motherboard).

Also, possibly related, when my computer first boots up I get a little error message:

Marvell 88SE91xx Adapter
PCie x1 5gbps
Adapter 1 Disks information: ACHI Mode
No hard disk is detected!

I'm really at a loss here. I can use my computer and all, but not being able to access the BIOS is obviously a huge issue.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

I get that "no hard disk detected" thing before it gets to the BIOS, too. But everything has been working for at least a week now fine. I don't think it's an error, not sure.

Either way, I see you've tried clearing the CMOS and you still couldn't boot. Have you tried using the memOK button on the motherboard? Give that a shot. If it boots, you know the problem was your timings weren't correct.

try unplugging all usb devices attached to your system, then give it a boot.

As I stated Windows 7 actually launches and I can use my computer, so I doubt it's a memory issue. It doesn't SEEM like anything is actually wrong with the hardware, it's just that I can't access the BIOS when I actually want to. Hell, I could probably ignore this for months assuming my problem isn't indicative of some larger problem.

Hmm, do you have the newest B3 revision board? It's possible you might need to update the BIOS.

Yup, B3. Also just updated the bios to ver 1502 and got the same result. It's really strange. Also just tried the MemOk switch - same deal.

Wow, that's really weird... You might just have a bad board

Double check your boot order. Disable any other boot options minus where your OS is installed.

Based on what I've read, his problem has to do with the IDE port. If he disables it the message should go away.

Oh, and as for my problem - I called Asus technical support and they told me my MB was bad . Returning it tomorrow. Thanks for the help anyhow.
