XSPC dual bay NOISE.. need advice on internal res/top for D5 instead

Hello everyone,

I have completed my build with the little devil case and 2 loops. I'm using the dual bay XSPC res and two mcp35X pumps controlled via PWM.

I'm not satisfied with the noiselevel/vibrations and thingking about using the two D5 varios I have instead.
I don't have tops/res for the D5's so what would you suggest? I want to remove all vibrations from the pumps since they're the loudest part of the build :S

I think the reason for the failed dual bay res build is that the Little Devil case is too narrow to correctly fit the bay. I have to mod it a bit so it's sitting too tight in the bay and sends vibrations via the case - not good.

Dual bay res are very loud, convenient but loud. You might want to run separate/dual tops with dedicated res instead?

tsm106, exactly that's my current plan, I'm a bit confused about the internal res options though, I have looked at the tube reservoirs from EK, what's your experience? Thanks smile.gif

Just get two 35x res tops to run your dual loops.

The only recommendation I would have is to try and but some rubber insulation between the bay, and the res. But if you already had to mod, that may not work.

I haven't had issues the past few years; but when 24X cd roms came out; I used to cut a strip of rubber and use it as a bumper between the drive and the drive bay.

(I used the rubber from a jar opener grip, Disk of textured rubber)

mine is basically silent... maybe something is wrong with your res/pump... try mounting it in a different socket and see if it still makes noise.

Yeah it might be enough to noise dampen it a bit more and mod the res even further :S

Typically the res is too wide for a case, so what happens is the res get coupled to the case transferring all noise/vibrations.

Thus you can dampen the case area around the res with sound absorption material, aka Dynamat. I've done just that with my setup.

Nothing beats a fully decoupled pump. Perhaps you can salvage the reservoir to work as a reservoir only with some block off plates?

That or you could buy a dual bay reservoir and leave the pumps separate. It is nice having that reservoir front face look, but noise especially with rigid acrylic can be a problem depending on your fan and noise tolerance.

If space is a constrant a simple T-fitting works fine, just takes a day or two to completely bleed out sometimes. Or the Swiftech MC-res is a great performing smaller sized reservoir.

If you want to go cylindrical, I would suggest the iandh reservoirs, I like his internal thread design and haven't heard of one cracking yet. I think that internal threading piece makes it a little more durable.
