Benq xl2410t or Asus vg236h?

Can't decide between these two. I haven't read of the Asus having any bleeding. I'm a big gamer but I also watch a lot of movies. Anyone who owns either could give me their opinions it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

i have the xl2410t and yes there is backlight bleed and its about the same compared to what i was using before (samsung syncmaster) significant from the bottom (reaches as far as but you only see it when the screen is black.

see back light bleed:

as you can see its somewhat significant but....

IMAG0026-1.jpg
it makes no difference when youve got a beautiful desktop dominated by a beautiful pair of soccer shoes.

What's nice about the xl2410 is that if you have a console like the xbox 360 and you run it through HDMI. you can hook the screen up with ear phones through its 3.5mm jack. so if your parents/significant other/roommates wants to use the tv when you want game on a console. you have a nice alternative.

120Hz is fine and you get a lot of calibration adjustments on the Benq. bought mine brand new for $400 after taxes and ive had it for about 3 weeks now. 0 dead pixels. and the built quality is fairly good. the swivel adjustment makes it all worth it.

all these features made it more valuable than the asus 120Hz monitor. (and glossy screens suck)

I'm worried about how movies will look on it if the bleeding is that significant. Does anyone know if the Asus has bleeding?

really depends on what kind of movies you watching. if its a really dark movie... lets say underworld. then it might bother you... just a little.

let me dig out my divx underworld and take a SS. hold on...

Do you get that pixel problem that others have been getting when they use AMA?
what pixel problem?

EDIT: you mean the pixel trailing with AMA. yes i do get it but you only see it when you're using a calibration pattern and you really focus on trying to notice it. it really depends on how OCD you are when it comes to these things. you circle your your fixed colour pattern and there is a slight trail. if you turn off AMA its no longer there. the difference in response time, or so the reviewers say, is from 2ms to 5ms with AMA off.

when youre doing regular stuff you dont notice it.

i was searching for it and i didnt realise that flatpanels did a review of the asus. judging by his photo of backlit bleed it is worse than the benq

http://www.flatpanelshd.com/review.php?subaction=showfull&id=1282205217

heres a big issue for me with the asus:

"Please notice that you need a dual-link DVI cable to get 120 Hz. 120 Hz is not supported through HDMI on VG236H."

The issue for you is the 12hz not supported through hdmi? or you need a dual link dvi cable?

"but you only see it when you're using a calibration pattern and you really focus on trying to notice it. it really depends on how OCD you are when it comes to these things. you circle your your fixed colour pattern and there is a slight trail."

I'm a big newb when it comes to monitors, whats a calibration pattern? and circle your colour pattern?

lots of patterns, and read up!

http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/

i got kind of paranoid after doing calibrations, but at the end of the day all i really cared about was the 120 hz and how fluid things moved on screen than my old syncmaster.

i dont know if its true but according to the asus review , you cant get 120HZ through the hdmi connection, which is a big nono for me as i like to play games on my xbox with it.

so for me i have my xbox plugged into hdmi and my pc plugged into the DVI slot.
