Cooling A Graphics Card (GTS 250) in an Antec P182

Hey guys, recently been trying to make the P182 a bit quieter as it's my daily and it's always on, right next to my study desk.. soo.

Anyways, with all the fans off (one top exhaust, one upper intake [under the drivebays], and on the Coolermaster Hyper 212+ is setup with the push/pull config.)

With all the fans, minus the push fan on the Hyper212, off; the GPU will idle at 60+, and with all fans on the lowest setting, will idle roughly at 55ish.

When gaming (BF:BC2), gets to about 80ish with all the fans on full blast.

I've seen some third party gpu coolers, but have no idea how they work and perform.

I wouldn't mind ghetto-modding a fan to blow directly onto the GPU, however, the wiring is already tight, so don't know how I'm gonna do that.

Any recommendations on anything, or something to help cool the GPU?

What model GTS 250? My older EVGA GTS250 1gb with the stock full cooler idles at 43C and tops out around 67 with the clock speed up around 850 and the fan on full after a full day of folding. But really, any way you try to cool a graphics card on air is going to be slightly noisy.

And after 2 years of solid use, disassembling the card and cooler and thoroughly cleaning everything and applying new TIM made a big difference in noise and cooling.

^ This. Try to get some decent paste like MX-2/3/4(there are others and better options, but I'm just tossing these around at the top of my head), and remove the paste, pay attention before cleaning to see how much is globbed on. Sometimes these companies apply way too much paste and it actually makes temps worse. But clean it off and apply an amount that would spread enough to thinly engulf the chip when the heatsink base presses down on it. If temps don't improve, you have the option of trying to find a compatible aftermarket cooler for it.

I have a BFG Tech 250 GTS 1GB-
Clocks/Shaders are stock:
Core clock is @ 750,
Shader is @ 1835
Memory clock is @ 1120

I have some old Artic Silver 5 that is pretty old, wonder if age affects the thermal conductivity?

I have a palit GTS250 1GB and it's runs at about 38c idle and about <50c under load. Game depending.

But my side fan does help to reduce the temps a bit.

Side Fans play the part to cool the GPU, the space between the sidepanel and the Graphics card is no more than 5cm, placing a nice fan or just mesh on a hole in the sidepanel would do great.

What case you got?

Yep, that's what I had goin in my smaller, cheap case, had a fan right next to the GPU, would cool that sucker well...

But a $20 case from Fry's apparently bends pretty easily..
