Thread Starter
I am looking to buy a Notebook

What do you guys think of the ASUS N73SV-A1 CLICK HERE

i can get it for ~1300$ tax included, should I consider any other laptops? I really want to stick with asus because they make the best laptops hands down. But open to other suggestions.

I would like something thats fast and reliable.

For a non gaming laptop that looks pretty respectable. Asus makes good laptops most of the time but not the best (a few poor G series owners know that). Since it has the SB CPU that will definitely help in the speed department.

Ultimately if you're not looking to game hardcore then and have the money/need for this level of power I can't fault it.

Any gaming/gpu intensive programs? Because for $1300 the 540m is terrible.

http://www.reflexnotebook.ca/index.p...er-np8130.html
The 460m destroys the 540m, you get 8 gigs of ram, better resolution display and a better harddrive.

But you have to buy windows or use your own copy or pirate it.

Im don't really game with the laptop (maybe some light gaming). I will be using the laptop for everyday normal stuff. But i want something that will last me for a long time performance wise.

Is sandy bridge really worth it? How much difference is there between this and a 800$ asus (real world use).

Hmm...I miss read. Thought it had the 550.

Still that one that S-X linked is definitely much better.

@S-X: Or the OP could use Linux.

The Sager NP8130 does look like a attractive deal, but honestly i have never heard of that brand, and the laptop looks like its from the 1990's (appearance wise).

I would rather go with a major company

IT IS A MAJOR COMPANY? Trust me if I had the money I wouldn't second guess getting the Sager.

And if appearances matter more to you than the power and use of the laptop then you might as well be looking at macs.

Linux isn't real. Next discussion.

Like rookie said, sager is a major company. It was established in 1985 and is still going strong today. The reason you've never heard of them is because they only sell built to order laptops, thus have no retail stores selling them in boxes. I wouldnt call the style from 1990's.. It has a very clean look, and is built to last. As for the comment about how sandybridge would perform against an $800 asus. The 2630qm will beat any mobile older mobile quad and dual core. The only other mobile cpu's stronger then it are also sandybridge, and technically desktop cpu's in a laptop (which i dont count..)

? Then the internet wouldn't be either.

The quote goes something like
"the Linux is all around us, you can feel it when you pay your taxes, when you turn on your television, it is in this very room."

OP: Did you decide yet?
