i wish newegg stated when these cards would go on to be sold. if a card is in limited supply then they should give us a time when they will go on to be sold. like 12pm pacific time or something.

At the moment this isn't true. Back when all Nvidia had was the 200 series and the 5870 came out, this was true. The 570 is equally priced with the 6970 and outperforms it in 2560x1600 and below. Maybe the 7000 series will bring back the fire.

People that buy an AMD card will defend that, they spent less money and they have a pretty good performance, although they would've like getting the Nvidia, if it wasn't that expensive ... so ... they defend their decision to the End.

People that buy an Nvidia card will defend that they got the best performer card in the market, although they feel bad for spending that much money and they see that AMD has an equivalent offer for less money, but, they will defend their decision to the end.

Nvidia fanboys don't even accept that a AMD card can be as performant as a Nvidia , for less money ...

AMD fanboys are always making their cards as performant as a Nvidia counterpart ...

So... in the end ... this is the what the "flame wars" are all about ...

People that just want to get the best solution, from either brands ... are the ones that will think the decision through in a very calm and relaxed maner ... making all Pros and Cons count ... and not really interested if the color is green or red

My 2 cents ...

As for the 590 ... still w8 to see if it's worth it
We still cant say GTX590 is faster. The test they did with GTX580s @ 600Mhz showed HD 6990 is clearly faster so i dont see why people still believe its will be faster the HD 6990.

Sorry Poopa, but many users keep comparing 6970 CF to 580 SLi ehehhe and we're talking about top of the range cards... Nothing higher than 6970 ( only 6990 ) ... and in the Nvidia side, there's the GTX580

But i understand what you're saying, just it isn't what people think ... they keep comparing the 6970CF to 580SLi

Zealot ... i know ... but that wasn't what i was trying to say ... it was a very generalist view of the arguments on this AMD vs Nvidia... both parties find arguments ( which are valid ok... ) for both "own acceptance" on the choice taken and to argument why X is better than Y ...

It won't. The GTX 590 might be faster just on selected games but slower in most games. But what if the GTX 590 also has a OC setting? What if SLI scaling is really good?

I mean I heard something about the MSI card clocking up to 840Mhz and I know it would destroy the 6990 at that clock.

Since AMD made the 6990 with a OC switch and most review sites will have both scores I gues it would be fair to also overclock the GTX 590 about the same percentage to see what it can do.

BTW from the prices being posted I believe the GTX 590 might be priced $750 after all. If you add CUDA/PhysX it will be priced alright when compared to the 6990.

I doubt it. High speeds alone does not always win the race.

That many cores is rather incredible. Can't wait to see it in action.

Besides the fact, what's the point? I've got a 480 and there is nothing I cannot do to it which it can't blast right out of the water (that gorgeous, tesselated water *drool*).

Why do I need a 590?
