Also not many will go water since it requires a lot more money to do so at least $400 for the loop which is not cheap and even if they have $700 for the card in 6 months if will be no good. In short the card should be compared what it can do out of the box. Also i have a bad felling about the cooler, It looks very small.
Yep, I agree with that, I personally never had that issue, but then again, I have the TF2 model, which runs very quiet, and I've yet to see it go past 65C on full loads, with 65% fan.

We already know the 5xx runs quieter and cooler than the 4xx series did on air.

So, we'll see how the cooling is on the 590, and how loud it is at stock and overclocked, and how it compares with the 6990 in that regard.

6990 has a 8+2 power phase ... not per gpu but for both gpu's ...

So w8 ... you say 590 has a poor phase design ...

Yeah... i mean 4+1 per gpu ... against AMD's 8+4 for both gpu's ... taking in account that it uses more memory it's "normal" that they use 1 more phase for the memory ...

But ok, some updates guys. A friend of mine tested the card ...

a) It runs really HOT
b) No overclocking room ... he's managing 670Mhz MAX without voltage increase. But he says it won't do much since it's a really hot card and no way you can use it with air cooling.
c) He's kind of disappointed with it
d) He said: " I really don't know what they want to do with this ... "
e) He said: " It's not worth the money ... really ... "
f) Idle at 38ºC / Load at 71ºC ( all @ stock clocks )
g) Stock voltage: 0.875

Some updates guys

a mythical octopus clocked one of these bad boys to over 9000 on stock volts and created a black hole by taking the memory over 10000 mhz

the card idles at -9000
load temp is 1c

He tests cards that Asus & Msi and other companies send him. He's a pro-clocker for a well known team that i can't say the name today ...

If you don't believe, just w8 for tomorrow and then you'll see that you should believe in Unicorns Scorpion ... tsk tsk

71C at load is supposed to be bad?

Low OC headroom at stock voltage is also expected, crank teh **** up!

Very nice.

This is a live conversation that's why i'm posting in parts

h) Smart Doctor is not working yet so he doesn't know how's the performance & oc scalability with more voltage ... but he's not too optimistic since the card is kind of hot...
i) OC with more voltage is uncertain ... he doesn't know since he can't tune the voltages yet ( asus didn't made the new smart doctor available ) ... but he says that this could be the case that with 1.05v the card could clock to 800Mhz... he doesn't know yet...
