[Various] All Pre-NDA GTX590 Threads - Page 118

A few observations:

1) IMO, that card is hot ... its 71C @0.875 mV... if you set it at 1mv (stock for the 580) it is going to very likely be 90C+ and the fan will need to be 80%+ and at 80% fan it will be loud. As a comparison, the 570 in my sig never goes above 75C @ 1.1mV (70% fan). The 590 will be quieter than the 6990, but I don't think in heat or noise it is the runaway winner people thought it was going to be...

2) It seems like the voltage software is not running yet, so screaming MOAR VOLTS to the guy who has got connections is silly...

I think a fair comparison is a review on air with both the 6990 and the 590 set to the stock voltage of the 6970 and 580, respectively. So that is flipping the switch on the 6990 and setting the 590 to 1mv. Clock both cards to their max OCs at those volts and compare... Personally, I think the 590 wins on those settings.

3) If you put either card under water or buy very some expensive non-ref design with better air cooling then all bets are off. Then again, I think comparing OCs with more extreme cooling methods (yes, not all enthusiasts relish the idea of water cooling) is not useful for the general public of OCN.

nope couldnt care less , not a fan boy .. ill use nvidia if they have a good card .. I just think the 6990 is the better choice , everyone is entitled to an opinion .

they could of done better with the design of the card it looks exactly like a 580 , looks very plasticy . The cooler looks rubbish imo .

I bet you would take the gtx590 over the 6990 ? because u got a 470 .. dont be a hypocrite .. u usually stick with what you think is best , everyones best is different . If u have nvidia its most likely so will be ur next card .. same goes with amd , my next card will be amd for sure because thats my personal preference , i love how chunky the 6990 is compared to the gtx590 ..they both have their pro's and con's .

so is nvidia surround possible off 1 card with the 590 ? 6990 will kick ass in eyefinity .

As for the vantage score, I think it's safe to assume that's with physx enabled.
Most tech sites dont accept scores with PhysX enabled as it inflates your P or X score and your CPU score because the program thinks your CPU is doing that when in reality the GPU takes over it. So i would assume not.

Hmmm to buy two 590's and ditch my Auzentech 7.1 for onboard sound, or be sensible and just buy the one

HX1000W enough juice to push two of these babies?

whats with that shoddy backplate ? meh .. Could of done a full coverage backplate , that looks like crap imo .

Are you kidding? Being the same price, only one can play in 3D at the moment. Not to mention has better Tessellation/OpenCL and CUDA without the need for an extra card just for PhysX.
We just need some voltage OCing comparisons.

What if he doesn't have a 3D monitor... I don't -- so that part of my 570 is rendered useless. AMD's tessellation is fine with the 6xxx cards (yes I know it still slightly slower) and many people have an old Nvidia card that they can use for physX (HACK) with little or no effort.

I mean, do you get tired of saying the same thing over and over and every thread Poopa...
