[Various] All Pre-NDA GTX590 Threads - Page 126

K, well, until AMD knows how to code for their GPUs, I'm going Nvidia for my next GPU. But I dunno, another 5850 sounds tasty in a few months.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

You forgot OpenCL and it's not just DX11, but DX9/10.

How are the actual game benchmarks useless and why are you boasting about the 3Dmark11 Extreme bench one moment then saying it's useless the next?

They're useless because there's no GTX590 in them.
And I wasn't boasting about any 3d11 Extreme score.
Saying it shouldn't be compared to the 6990 because the cpu was at stock.
Basically saying that if my score is better, then you can pretty much disregard the score that was posted.

Due to the enormous power consumption of the upcoming GeForce GTX 590, this dual-GPU card will be certainly available in very limited quantity.

Why? Because NVIDIA has to select the finest GF110 GPUs, those with electrical leakage reduced to the minimum, in order to maximize the GPU clock speed without leading to an insane power draw.

Keep in mind that under FurMark, a regular GTX 580 with power draw disabled, shows a power consumption of 300W (350W when overclocked). We can’t then imagine the power consumption of a card with two GF110 GPUs…

Here are the specs of the GTX 590:
- GPU: 2 x GF110
- Shaders processors: 1024 (2 x 512)
- Textures units: 128
- Memory: 3072MB GDDR5, 2 x 384-bit
- Power consumption: > 300W!

The GTX 590 will have two 8-pin power supply connectors, and certainly a third power connector like for MSI’s GTX 480 Lightning.

You're right, it's not a true 590. It has worse ROPs, Shaders and Bandwidth though. The only advantage the 570s might have is the 970 clock. But even 560is in SLI with 1000Mhz clock won't be able to keep up with 800Mhz 580s so I doubt that clock speed alone will keep it ahead of the 590.
Sorry I read your post wrong about the 3DMark wrong though.

Do you have a mirror? Video is private now.

Aww, the Youtube video is now set to private.

Key points though, hope I got these right:

- Noise level around 40-45 dB at 50% fan speed, just a tad louder than the GTX 580
- Average of 58-60+ FPS on Crysis 2 at max possible settings, 2560x1600
- Temperatures could reach an average of 80C while gaming (2560x1600 resolution)
- Works well on Nvidia's Surround 3D vision even on one GPU

The fan speed was still at 50% when it hit 80C?
