Another two comments, look at the last graph, first time in a while I've seen a dual card based on the same GPU be slower then it's uno counter-part and has to be be oc'd to match the power, looks like XFire was disabled or something along that one aye?

And the fact that a GTX 460 is apparently more powerful then a 5970 which is battling it out against a 5850.... That graph is chattin' so much sh** that it's "bumhole" is getting jealous

I believe GTX590 will be stronger in almost everything, except gaming. Sure low core clocks and I don't know how well it will overclock but 1024 cuda cores will really kick in. This card will be folding specialist and hell.. when I think about it just might win HD6990 in games as well.

But all in all, I think nVidia had something greater in mind than only gaming with this beast. The main concern for me is the price, if it breaks the $1000 wall with lets say 5-10% over HD6990 in games, I think I know what card gamers are going to pick.

Only if they could do something like this in the cpu market, don't have high hopes for bulldozer at all competing with anything except price.

Correct. He is just cherry picking benchmarks from who knows where. Check on Anantech http://www.anandtech.com/show/4209/a...le-card-king/1

Against 570SLI:
It wins in Crysis, Battle Forge, Metro, Battlefield: BC2, Stalker
It loses in HAWX, Dirt2, Civ 5, ME2, and Wolfenstein

Also note that for games like Civ 5 and Wolfenstein, AMDs current drivers 11.4 are much better (yes I know 70% for Civ5 is overstated by AMD).

So, if I know that a 590 will be slower than 570SLI... what do you think will happen Will the 590 win it some games, sure. But most will go to the 6990.

This is going to come down to two things:

1) Price, if it is around a MSRP of $650 it will sell great
2) Noise, people like quiet rigs and the 6990 is LOUD

I didn't include OCing because nobody has any idea how that is going to go

So Nvidia finally has an answer to the 5970? Awesome.

Well, I for one am disappointed. Hopefully the price is good.

I don't know what you guys are arguing, nor do I am stating my position. Anand is not a legit bench site. They have been known to compare CPUs without similar test beds which yield false impressions.

You and I are saying the same thing.

Some guy a couple of pages around made the point that 570SLI was much faster than the 6990 and therefore even at the reduced clocks of 612Mhz the 590 would be faster than the 6990. I didn't know Anand was invalid, but I had a hard time finding 6990 vs 570 SLI reviews.

Anyway, you and I are of the same mind. It will be slower... so Nvidia will have to compete with price and noise (for the people who care about noise).

570 beats out the best 6970.
Single 560 woops a 6990 in OpenCL.

Even a 560 beats it in 1080p BC2. 470 beats it at 2560x1600 BC2.

570s beat the 6990 in Battleforge, HAWX, CIV5, Dirt2(even the 560s), Mass Effect 2, Wolfenstein, Alien Vs Pred, Metro 2033, CoD6, Just Cause 2, Batman, BC2, 3DMark Vantage/11 and Unigine Heaven.

590 > 6990

Just hope it's not $200 more.
The graphs you posted are for the 5970? And also I'm sure nobody cares about the two benchmarks you linked with civ5 ( PS 11.4 preview drivers increase performance by *70%* )

Just look at actual 6990 benchmarks http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon-hd-6990-review/21

6990 is the clear winner.

So in essence, only get this card if you have the additional cash to throw it on water, end of story.

A lot of people dont need GTX580 or a HD 6990 but they get it to bench, overclock, have the fastest.
