With Nvidia stating that we "will be surprised" by the 590 pricing, the rumored quite low core clock and the simulated benchmarks with clocks close to that, I think AMD will keep the crown this time around. It isn't going to be enough difference to matter for most people, save for extreme resolutions(multi-monitor) where the lower Vram will probably show an even greater disadvantage for the 590. I don't see a point with either card unless you play at extreme resolution, so I feel the 6990 will be the clear winner for the target audience.

We may see back and forth wins for each at 1080p on games, but that is just epeen contests, as the fps at that res with both cards are going to be way over what matters at that point. Huge res's are going to decide the victor for me, and I am almost certain the 6990 will take that honor.

This nitpicking over every little thing is funny though. Loyalists are entertaining.

Huh. The 5970 is STILL faster then a single 580 btw. The 5970 is a 1 year and 5 months old card... and it's still beating the 580 in alot of benchmarks. Ouch. You said ''nothing comes close''. Wrong.

And with the new 11.4 drivers, the 6970 is breathing down the 580 neck, and beat it often at 2560X1600 in alot of benchmark. Have you seen the benchmark from a guy on OCN with the new 11.4 preview drivers? Some games are getting 10-20% fps with a 6970...

You sound jus like my wife. Sigh. My point was that you said 1000/1400 is ''not impressive'', since some 6970 go furthur. That's true. But there is also some 6970 stuck under 950, just like some 580 that don't OC well.

My point was that I was just having fun and didn't even try to push the card, since I always use waterblock. So you are judging my OC like it's my definitive speed, while I didin't even try pushing it.

We all try pushing our CPU with Intel stock cooler for fun when we get a new i7, then we put a real waterblock or high-end air heat-sink and start doing more serious OC. Same thing here for me with the 6990. My i7 2600K is running at 5.4 easily. But with a waterblock. Not with Intel heatsink. And running 5.1Ghz 24/7.

So if I was to use the Intel heatsink, and get my i7 2600k to 4.4-4.5 max and burn it, you would say ''not impressed''. Yeah, right.

Don't tell me you're OCing your CPU with the Intel heatsink? So now you see the point. You probably didn't even try the Intel stock heatsink at all. So why poinitng a finger at me for doing the exact same thing with a GPU?

Reviewers have agenda you know. If they want to keep receiving free cards, they need to do what the green-giant want, or to put the green-team in a better light. Some reviewers are honest, but you can count them on your fingers... Don't tell me you honestly think they're ALL honest, every reviewers out there? So cute and candid.

It's funny that we start to read on some sites, from ''reviewers'' with 590 in hands, that the 590 is not faster then the 6990, but it's QUIETER. Strange coincidence, all the emphasis on the 6990 ''noise'', and then, the 590 is not faster, but quiter. How convenient... Nvidia and some reviewers were preparing the field for what is coming march 22. Nvidia's marketing department new instructions. Think about it.

Why do you think not a single reviewers did a TRUE 1000$ against 1000$ comparison, 6990+6970, but all did the the stupid ''700$ 6990 is 10% under 1000$ 580 SLI, so 580 SLI is better''. Doh. Yeah right. It's REALLY suspicious to me. Since when are we not doing $ agains equal $ comparison? 2 PCIe slots against 2, 1000$ against 1000$, 2 cards against 2 cards. 6990+6970 would rape 580 SLI.

Maybe because it would put the 1000$ green set-up in a bad light? Where are those real 1000$ against 1000$ reviews, 6990+6970 against 580 SLI? Really suspicious. Think about it. Even my wife would understand why.

Go read around. Alot of people are getting their 6990 this week. They sell like hot cakes. And they all say the sound is not that terrible. Not worst then 580 SLI OC with fans running fully to keep all the heat in check.

And I have a proof. REAL OCN end-user with 2X 6990 (yes, 2!) saying exactly what I'm saying:

http://www.overclock.net/12762628-post11.html

Real end-users. So if you want to believe ''reviewers'' with big Nvidia banners and Nvidia publicity on their sites, and receiving lists of instructions from Nvidia with which games to benchmark, and what not to do, be my guest... Billions $ industry. Reviewers are easily ''convinced'' to do some things...

Nvidia is carefully preparing the field for what's coming march 22. ''We are not faster, but we are quieter.'' is the new moto for Nvidia's marketing department.

Save it for when the card is actually released before you comment on the cooling, son.

You obviously don't own a 580 or 570. Their fans don't even need to push 70% to keep them cool.

More retarded made up quotes please. Nvidia has never said anything as remotely stupid as to what comes out of your mouth.

Any other ignorant comments you'd like to make before the 590 is actually released and tested?

Finally! Someone did it! 6990+6970 against 580 SLI, 1000$ against 1000$.

And like I said, it's a real massacre. So to all those Nvidia fanboys bashing me non-stop, put you feet where your mouth is. Same price, 1000$ against 1000$, 2 cards against 2 cards.

Look at those slides here:

http://www.hardware.fr/articles/822-...s-records.html

Look at Crysis 2560X1600 8AA! 59 fps for the 6990+6970 set-up against 32 fps for 580 SLI! LOL! Double the framerate! Unplayable with 1000$ 580 SLI, but 60 fps with 1000$ 6990+6970!

Green drama-queens.You can argue all day long. But the slides and benchmarks are talking. I was right. I really feel sorry for 580 SLI owners. Paying so much money, and 3 months later, double framerate in Crysis... for the same price.

Thank you all. It feels so good to be right.

Personnal attacks, please. Ignorant, retarded? It's not a school-yard here.

Read around. There is a forum where some reviewers having the 590 in hands are already saying that! I won't spoon fed you. Do some research.

They say that the 590 is not faster, but quieter.

But you can call me ignorant, retraded blah blah blah. Look at the slides in my last post.

Double Crysis framerate for the same price, 2560X1600 8AA, like I said all along. So who's retarded and ignorant?

Please, show me some slides and benchmarks. Shoot the message, not the messanger. Stop the personnal attacks. Prove me that 1000$ 580 SLI is better then 1000$ 6990+6970. read the review I just posted.

Levesque ... it's great than 6990 + 6970 are in the same price range and are better but ... you "attitude" isn't the best regarding this discussion ...

It's good to see that Radeon cards are cheaper and can perform almost the same as Nvidia's ... but it's still 3 gpu's against 2 gpu's... no matter if they are in the same price range.

Pricing its all about production costs and marketing.

What i see is that, using 2 GPU's, 2 PCB's, 6970 is owned by GTX580 and even 570 get there.

6990 can't touch the 580 Sli ...

This is just by analyzing HARDWARE not pricing...

Now, if we go into the 1000 price tag, yes, AMD has a great performance But... it's one more slot, more power draw ... more heat into the case ...

So... we must take a second to chill ... gpu vs gpu ... nvidia is better... now... i always said i prefer 2 lower spec'ed GPU's in a single PCB since... it's easier to get the best out of the card than just try to feed a lion with peanuts

So, yes, ATI has a winner in the 6990, and the possibility to tri-sli with a single gpu card is an amazing feature.

Nvidia never had that option with the GTX295 and my guess is that you can't do this with the 590 neither...
