I am also not interested in articles two years old. A lot can change in two years. If you watch some of Tributars other videos, he clearly pits dual card setups against each other and the 580s win yet again. Blaming AMD for driver issues doesn't help the cause. Just because you ave preconceived notions about how three and four GPUs function, doesn't invalidate the results Tributar gets in his great videos. Not to mention the whole reason of my post was to show micro-stutter difference. Unless you are blind, you can clearly see SLI micro-stuttering far less than CF.
It's clear that your claims are specious and for the most part inaccurate. You simply cannot take criticism when you providen that your argument is shown as incorrect. The examples given prove that 3 gpus can be better then 4 and have done so for a while now. Not just in performance but in:
-price vs performance
-overall heat
-power consumption
-noise
etc.

Which clearly puts using 3 gpus ahead of 4 . But needless to say you gone elsewhere to post the same videos from your inaccurate point of view. In which the end result was that a mod/admin over there deleted your post(s). Folks, have a look at his remarks over on XS (snapshot just in case he deletes it, lol). In any case it's clear you are misinformed on the merits of using comparable video card configurations. As you try to argue a moot point. Which in the end debunks the videos and your claims. Now is there anything else you wish to say? If you do make sure it's on topic and relevant!

Vega Why didn't you run any Crysis tests?

It's obvious that ATI still hasn't got quadfire fixed in Crysis, if it's even possible.
I wouldn't be surprised if tri fire puts up better numbers than quad.

Has NV fared any better with Crysis recently?

My claims are specious? You posting results of outdated tech from a review two years ago is proof that I am incorrect? Who has extensive testing completed with Tri-Quad Fire 6970s and Tri-Quad 580s. You? Oh no, wait thats me.

Then you change your tune from 4x GPU not giving more performance to 4GPU being hotter and costing more? Wow, thats some insight you provided there. 4 GPUs are hotter, cost more and create more noise than 3 GPUs! Shocking.

What does my post on XS have anything to do with this topic? Posting a video link of Quad-XFire 6990 power usage to someone who asks for Quad-XFire power usage numbers in a 6990 thread is such a bad thing. Bad boy, bad!

The truth is, you don't do comparison reviews between 4 way vs 3 way gpus from competing companies. It's an apple/orange comparison. As I noted in my 1st reply to your post there are various factors that can come into play.

But I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity say as much to let the community know.

Oh, BTW, why don't you start answering some of grunion replies to your posts?

At that time I couldn't find my Crysis disk. Its the only software I could not download online. Pretty much everything else I have I can download digitally. If you watch Tributars other videos, he has different configurations and not just Quad-Xfire 6990 which are somehow handicapped? If you handicap your cards with poor drivers, I guess thats all that matters. You can say, my card was handicapped and the performance numbers don't matter.

Wondering why the comparison videos were deleted, when it's quite relevant. Apples to oranges? I don't give a fluff about fruit here, we're comparing GPUs to GPUs!

Here Grunion. I will answer your Crysis question, since Vega is eluding it.

Look at this review here. 6990+6970 Tri-Fire gives almost double the framerate in 2560X1600 8XAA xcompared to 580 1.5gb SLI. DOUBLE! 59 fps against 32. And a single 6990 goes head-to-head easily with 2X580 SLI with 1.5Gb VRAM.

Blah blah blah about the limited VRAM on the 580 Nvidia. But Nvidia are selling those POS card 500$, not me. And the 6990+6970 cost also 1000$. It's a real massacre. 580 SLI is totally obliterated. It's a 500$ card for God sakes!

And this is with BETA 11.4 drivers!

And people are paying 1000$ to get 580 SLi with 1.5Gb of VRAM to get those results? And with 3 of the most demanding games out there? Look at the slides people! Same price! Stop the fanboyism for 2 seconds!

And a 590 will be 2X 580 with ONLY 1.5GB, just like on those slides, and with lower clocks then real 580 SLI? It's not serious. Not enough VRAM. The 6990 will kill it. The WEAK point of the 590 is the amount of VRAM, not the clock speeds. Look at the slides! Look what not enough VRAM is giving you! The results with the 590 will be the same, or lower then 580 SLI, since it's with lower clock speeds. And the amount of VRAM is the same. 1.5Gb only.

Rape. People are really paying 1000$ for this?

Another raping. 1000$ ????

Again.

And again.

And please comment the slides and the benchmarks. No personnal attacks on me.

I don't see all the benchmarks but wait you were comparing a 6990+6970 vs GTX 480 SLI? It's actually more than just memory advantage the radeon cards have. It's also more raw power.

As for extremely high resolutions, well as far as I know, Nvidia does not have Eyefinity and I don't think they are really interested on anything like eyefinity and that's probably why they don't think their cards need 2GB of RAM or more.

They do support 3D gaming and they actually know that for 3D gaming you need 120Hz and they do know you need 2 powerful cards for that. Again 1 card would not give such a great experience even if they put 2 or 3 gigs of memory. For 120Hz you need more than just 45-50 fps.

Interesting review from hardware.fr. So what you are saying is that a 6990 at times beat a 580 SLI at higher resolutions do to having more memory (and possible more efficient arch.)?
