They didn't OC the Tri-Fire set-up. And they were using the stock 6990 OC bios speed, and has you can see, the 6990, with the BETA 11.4 drivers, is easily keeping up with the 580 SLI 1.5GB set-up. Already head-to-head.

Look at the charts for 2560 and higher resolution with 4XAA and 8XAA.

So how can the 590, with not enough VRAM (just like those slides are showing with the 580 SLI), and LOWER clocks, be able to keep up with the 6990 AND 580 SLI? Impossible.

It will be slower then 580 SLI, and on those slides, with 11.4, the 6990 alone is already head-to-head with 580 SLI. Does anyone here really think that the 590 will be FASTER then 580 SLI?

About those video Vega felt in love with. Why not do a more logical video of 3X 6970 against 3X 580? And a video of 2X 6990 against 2X 590 will be also more logical. Those videos were stupid IMHO. And why no videos of 6990+6970 against 580 SLI?

I think it was intentionnally done to put Nvidia in a better light. Tributar receives alot of free cards, so he does what needs to be done to keep getting those freebies and gifts...

Do 3X 6970 against 3X 580, or 2X 6990 against 2X 590 next week. That's the way to do it properly.

And 3 X 6970 against 2x 590 would be the same, but the opposite. Totally not logical. And the 2X 590 would look bad. Not really difficult to extrapolate that.
What I assume will happen is that nvidia centric games will be the fore front of the review. I will look out for reviews that discuss power consumption, noise and heat but at stock but overclock the card for the benchmarks, etc. Another thing, if the 590 was a clear winner why hasn't there been any leaks? Every release where nvidia had the performance lead had some sort of leak well before release. Just saying...

If that's the case then where are the 1000MHz Gigabyte GTX 560 Super Overclock cards? It looks like it's been replaced for a lower clock rate of 950MHz. So, if there are not 1000MHz in large quantity where is the review for the 950MHz variant? Why am I looking at review(s) showing the 1000MHz if one cannot buy it?

The point I'm making is that just because you see a video card that's clocked high doesn't automatically mean it's an appropriate clock rate. But lets see what a few more days tell us. Oh here's another store selling it.

Dual GPUs are great. But I would like to see more use put into them. 4 GPUs are 4 GPUs. That is only 2 cards. The benefits of multi GPU cards should be based on your limitation of slots. Most high end mobos can support 4 or 3 GPUs, having 4 dual GPU cards should have their gains. I wish they would release 8 GPU support drivers. Maybe have it as a mix of split frame and alternating frame rendering.

I hear ya, and the point I was making is that they ( as in whoever received that card ) overclocked it TO 840, showing its OC potential, but it doesn't mean it's an overclocked edition. That article was also translated from Chinese, so perhaps there's confusion in the translation. Only a couple days to go anyhow 'till we get some real reviews.

Exactly. Just like those Tributar videos running at 1XAA only to compensate for the lack of VRAM on the 580.

It's really easy to manipulate a benchmark to show only the strong point of a set-up, and minimized the weakness. Doing a video at 1XAA is a good exemple.

I will say it again.

The WEAKNESS of the 590 is the severily limited amount of VRAM, not the clock speed.

And I'm wondering if Tributar will do a video of 3X 6970 against 2X 590 with hig-res and 4X/8XAA? LOL. No. He will do those videos at 1XAA... To compensate for the lack of VRAM on the 590. Just wait and see.

Which of Tribrutars videos is running at 1x AA? I just checked Metro2033, Heaven 2.5 and Crysis 2x 6990 Quad vs 3x 580 3-way videos and they all had 4x AA.

I personally do not go over 2x AA on 3x 30" as more than that is not visible. But then again even with just 2x AA I use up to 2700MB VRAM in some titles.

Exactly. And judging by the frames. That was the max the cards could really take at those settings
