But, lets see... if it's really really great card... i will think about doing a financial stretch ... but at the end ... it's damn confusing because, usually i buy a gfx 2 in 2 years. That's why i buy these 2 gpu cards ...

But i mean, the 295 was 500 USD ... 300 less than the 590 ... and the Kepler are looking really good with 4x better efficiency ... so ... maybe i will rethink my strategy for 2011 ... :x let's see...
you also have to take into consideration that the 6990 on water will be a monster. it's being held back by heat and even then it's already at 6970 xfire levels or slightly above.

If it's quiet but has high temps they will argue that temps don't matter.

If it's just as fast or faster in some cases then a HD 6990 but uses a considerable amount of power. They will argue that power doesn't matter.

If it stays cool but at the cost of fan noise. They will say noise doesn't matter.

You see a trend? It's called plausible deniability. They won't relate one cause to said effect.

But there's absolutely nothing similar regarding the 590. Heck, there is no confirmation of what it looks like yet. We do know that it was suppose to be released on tomorrow with a possible delay until the 24th. Oh well a few more hours until official launch.
There were no 6990 benchmarks until the day they got released, point?

Doesn't that go both ways though?

Levesque has argued that his 6990 + 6970 set up is NOT loud, yet, watch those videos he posted. Plus, there are a LOT of 6xxx users who couldn't handle the noise either.

The original 4xx cards also got blown out of proportion about their noise levels, and guess who was making the most noise about it?

Some people who happen to own a 6990 will post anything and everything to let everyone how their purchase is superior, and has absolutely no flaws such as noise levels, etc.

But anyway, why don't we stay on topic about the 590?

i think the card has to be faster than the 6990 in crysis 2. for them to advertise "the way it's suppose to be played" means they have added something or did something to set themselves apart from the competition. interest definitely peaked.

Indeed... i'm more interested in the way they will marketing the damn monster than the graphical power it will have ( of course it will have lots of computing power ) ...

It'll definitely be quieter than the 6990, centrifugal vs axial fan.
The axial fan on the 295 co op was much quieter than the centrifugal of the dual pcb 295.

Same can be said for the 590.

No it doesn't stop making false equivalence claims like that. Example, because they do it we should be able to do it too. The concern here is the 590 and the defensive posturing some make if/when glaring issues are pointed out.

What are my false equivalence claims exactly? It's so hard speaking to someone who is close minded.

Anyway, let's just stay on topic on the 590 which we won't how it performs until it's released.

All I know is that the 6xxx series cards are too loud for me on stock coolers, and that's enough to deter a purchase.

I don't know what kind of witchcraft was done to the Nvidia 500 series cards centrifugal fans but by Jove they are quieter than my 6870 was.

If performance is similar and one is quieter than the other but costs more my money will go into keeping my rig as quiet as possible.

/opinion.
