Best PSU for <$70?

Thread Starter
I need a cheap PSU (<$70 shipped) to power another rig. I would like to have as much headroom as possible, maybe running Crossfire 5870s down the road.

I'm not really sure what the best PSU around $70 would be?

Then buy a 1.2kW+ unit.

If you want a reasonable recommendation, a 650W would be more than ample for Crossfire, and a 400W would be reasonable for a single card.

For $70 there aren't a whole lot of quality 650W units out there. The Rosewill RG-630 is probably your only option. For 400-450W units there are lots of options.

If you don't mind mail in rebates, then this is the one for you. It's built by SeaSonic, so it's a quality PSU, and it can handle crossfire 5870's just fine.

Hmmm, I don't think I would mind a rebate. I would assume the XFX is worth it over the RG-630?

I'm not all that familiar with the Rosewill unit, but I just completed a build with the XFX unit I linked, and I was very pleased with it. Also, it's mostly modular, so that's a plus for cable management.

The XFX unit is far superior to the Rosewill. It's worth it.
