best at ~~$55?

without any case modding (i definitely dont own any tools like dremels and such), which case do you guys think is superior? or best in the sub $100 category?

antec 300
- has a simplistic look that i am fond of.
haf 912 - seems to have a major thing antec doesnt have, cable management. it does however have a look that i am not super fond of. At least it doesnt have a window.

can both or either of those hold a decent air cooler AND a 6870 gpu? i will only have 1-2 hard drives installed btw. they seem like they might be competing for space on the 300.

also, i came across a thread with pics of something very sexy looking called arc midi but it doesnt seem to be out yet. if its not too dangerous price wise, and if it comes out in less than 4 months,i might just have to go with that. its one of the best looking cases ive seen.

Check out 3DGmaneMan on Youtube. His case reviews, which there are plenty of, typically show how long a video card a certain case will support. The 6870 is 10 in. long, so that should be easy to fit in most mid-size cases. Most cases will also accommodate most high-end CPU coolers, but there are always exceptions.

The CM 912 is a far superior case to the Antec 300. As you mentioned, the Antec 300 lacks greatly in the cable management department, although it is possible to tuck away most cables behind the HDD cage.

You should also consider the budget cases from NZXT (Beta EVO, M59, & Gamma), Thermaltake (V3, V4, V5, V6), and even Rosewill. If you can spare a little more $$$, I would suggest getting a CM 690 II Basic. It has great styling and functionality. I got mine at the right time for $63 shipped.

As I said, check out 3DGameman, as well as other reviewers on Youtube, to get a better idea of what the cases are like. Here are the best reviews I found for the Antec 300 and CM HAF 912.....

If I could find a cm 690 ii case for 62 shipped, I think this discussion would already be over. It has a very nice look to it and it seems to have everything I would want to use. Where did you find it? At new egg it's 80 + 10 shipping. That's a solid 50% price increase from the Antec 300. The price on the 692 isn't bad, but I am not sure its worth that much more for what I need.

I wasn't big on any of the nxzt's but you were right about the thermaltakes, they look very nice for around the same price as the antec. They do seem to have its same problem though (the management issue). But overall they look like they have more to offer for the same price of the antec. I am still looking at the rosewells.

You might be able to squeeze a refurbished 690 II with shipping into a $65 budget.

I got it at Newegg. It was $70 with free shipping and there was a 10% off coupon.

I wag going to say get the HAF 912 until I went through all the posts. I really wish I havent purchased the HAF 912 when I had a spare $30 under my keyboard XD. The case's outside looks okay but I don't really like its agressive look. It has good airflow and even with the 2 stock fans my computer is still cool. The only think that I don't like at all is that the interior looks very cheap without a black interior, so bad that I really don't see cable managment have an effect other than airflow.
