GTX 580 SLI setups + Microstuttering

Thread Starter
Just got my second 580 (no 590 dual GPU cards for me anymore),

I'm wondering, is there any micro-stuttering with these new cards? I haven't noticed it but maybe thats because I haven't played any games that DO micro stutter with multi-gpu configs.

Whats the verdict?

There is in almost every multi-card setups.
Depends on the resolution, game, drivers, quality of the GPU cores you got.

Most of the time, you will not feel it, as long as the FPS are decently high.
If you play at below 60FPS, you will start feel it more.

But in general speaking, yes, there is micro-stuttering.

Would you say there is more? or less @ 1920x1200, when compared to 1920x1080?

What about cards that are slightly different? ie, Reference GTX 580 with a DirectCU II 580.

Dosn't matter really. Depends on the game.
You will not feel more or less "stuttered" in 1080p vs 1200p

Depends on the game and the user. Some people aren't particularly sensitive to it. I've been running SLI setups almost exclusively since '08 and I've never noticed any micro stutter personally.

i've come across it only once thus far with my 460's, and that's in the opening level of Bad Company 2 singleplayer. it disappears as i progress through that level and doesn't return for the rest of the game (at least as far as i've played through it). BC2 singleplayer is mediocre and not something i'll spend a lot of time in so it's not a big deal for me. i've been pleasantly surprised with how well nvidia handles multi-gpu setups.

It's still an issue, but if you don't notice it then that's awesome. I switched from CrossFireX 4870s to SLI 460s. Gameplay on the 4870s was silky smooth but the 460s are way more stuttery. Don't know if the GTX 5XXs suffer from the same condition.

It also depends on the person. You can show some people a video of microstuttering and they will not even notice it, other people will be really bothered by it.

Also, as previously stated, if you're pulling massive frames (like I'm sure SLI 580s do), then you probably won't even get too much stutter in the first place.

It's there...I rarely notice it, but whe I'm truly pushing AA/AF and randomly dip below 60FPS, I notice a little s-s-s-s-stuttering.

Yes, I went there. :S
