dued... if it was me... sell the ide for what ever to get more sata cables and then fill ur rig with the biggest sata hdd's u can get.


IDE: is very old and not used much anymore, hdd's and dvd writers are hard to get hold of and over priced

SATA: is the way to go - fast, newer, and supports solid state.

haha thank you! so these two cables are all that need to be connected to the HDD to make them work correct?

oh and this information helps a lot! I'm gonna be getting all the stuff for my build today in the morning so I'm really excited =)
up late at night watching pc building tutorials haha =P

Yeah easy point of reference, if it's got pins it's an IDE
[:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::] [oooo]

if it's got L shaped connectors its SATA.
[═══════╗][╔═══]


IDE can do data speeds up to 133MB a second
SATA can do data speeds up to 6GB a second.
