Newbie water cooling help

Thread Starter
Hi all its my bday in a week so water better thing to get then a better water kit.

At the moment i have the H70 and its working ok but with the 460GTX Hawk blowing all its hot into the case its not working as well as it should.

I was looking at either the RX240 or RX360. Now the RX360 is only $40 more so would it be better to buy the RX360 or is that wasted money?

Keep in mind that i will be getting another 460GTX Hawk in SLI as well so i will be having the rad outside the case as i dont mind the loud fans.

All i really want to do is have the cpu wet and leave the Hawks using the stock fans as the work quite well, but if you think they will get too hot together ill look at wetting them also.

Please help a newbie with his first water kit.

If you're only planning on doing a cpu loop the RX240 will be fine. However, if you ever plan on chucking in those 460s you're going to need at least a 360. 120 per component is typically the minimum. I think that your case's airflow is decent though so you should be able to get by with the 2 460s in SLI on air just fine.

So you think the RX240 is fine?

Should i upgrade the fans or keep the stock ones it comes with?

They say the stock ones are descent since I've been looking at buying a one as well. As far as your plans to SLi 2 MSI Hawk cards I'm currently running a MSI cyclone and Hawk in SLi and it has raised temps inside my Antec 1200 pretty much under load. But that's off-topic a little. If your just going to do the CPU then the RX240 will be fine. I will recommend that you get some different tubing because they talk like the tubing that comes with it is more prone to kinking.

Well i would like to have some blue coloured tubing or maybe something as a contrast to the blue lights in my case.

Although RX240 is enough, I think you should get this one instead. You can expand to GPU if you buy the RX360. This should be enough for your needs.

It depends. I doubt it will perform any better. IMO it just gives you an option to expand.

Well maybe i will go with the RX360 just in case i want to put the 460's under water down the track.

Now i know not to put dye's in and just use distilled water but do i need both a silver coil and an additive in the loop.
