no sound need help

ok ever since i got my refurb'd x58 sli ive been having audio problems. Since it was the same board i assumed it would just be a simple drop in with no windows reinstall.

anyways what is happening is that basically the first time i start up the computer i end up with a red X over my audio button in the bottom right corner, it says no audio devices are found, the only fix has been rebooting.

The problem is now thats not even working and after a reboot i still have no audio. Under device manager the only audio device i have is from my video card, when its working there's more listed obviously.

Now a google search mentioned to look to see if the audio services were running, there were 3 services to check, and i think 1 maybe 2 were not running (i know i was lazy should have remembered which ones). But the "main" service "audiosrv" was running, and i thought maybe i should turn it off and then turn it back on again, problem was i couldn't turn it off, and then i went back to the other audio services i had turned on and i can't turn those off either. It says access denied. Under group it says "localservicenetworkrestricted", not sure if that means anything but seen restricted so thought it might be worth mentioning.

So then i thought maybe my problem is all this "permission" mumbo jumbo, so i rightclicked on my windows folder and i can't seem to be able to change any permissions but maybe im doing it wrong?

Im supposedly running as admin, yet there's things i can't do....very odd that i cant access my own computer files to the full extent or shut down services....

so anyways any help would be great, ive reinstalled the audio software/drivers a few times already....going to go try for a third while i wait for responses.

oh and when i have the X over the audio button, my realtek software does not load as well

It could be that since its a refurbished, it means its been RMAed with a fault that has been fixed after EVGA has sent out a replacement board. My guess would be that it was RMAed with a audio issue and there is something wrong with the sound chip. All it would take is for EVGA to test it once (boot it up) and by chance get it to work for them then they sell it as a refurbished board. My suggestion is that you just buy a sound card and use that.
