5770 hdmi port

Thread Starter
hi, i just wanted to clear this out before i do anything
i have a 20' w2040t lg monitor with only dvi in
i was wondering if a hdmi to dvi d cable would carry audio if i use the hdmi port on my hd5770 to dvi on my monitor. i know there's been a lot of discussion over it and i apologize if im totally wrong but, if it do support audio, does hdmi audio would be something to consider or its no better than my 7.1 VIA codec onboard chip??

No it doesn't

I have my 5770 from the HDMI to the DVI and have to use a seperate cable for audio

Though if you use the onboard DVI to DVI I think it does (havn't tried it)

Might as well use onbard DVI
