1) To me it is clear for 1200p and 1600p the 6990 wins by only a little -- so if you care about noise (I don't ) then get the 590 because you aren't losing much for a quieter rig.

2) At surround/eyefinity type resolutions the 6990 is the clear winner

3) Be careful when overclocking. On mature drivers there are plenty of 570s that have blown on 4+1 phases when people got aggressive. The issue is Fermi is power hungry... the drivers have little to do with it. Name ONE card where reviewers reported blowing up the card while testing OCs in recent history. I certainly haven't see it.

Overall I give the 6990 a slight edge because this is OCN and we care about performance not noise, right...
Right but i would also add one key point also PRICE

The cards that were tested are NOT final revisions, they are NOT release cards and are operating on BETA drivers.

Thus making any final conclusion, retarded because you don't have any actual data...you have a basis and a general assumption; that's it.
I want you post a link to EVERY review of the GTX 590 were they state that cards were pre-release.

If you can't back it up then don't spout it

Glad today is slow and this card came out. I wouldn't have any of this to read then!

Hopefully when some people do their own review (and eventually under water), we'll see how the cards OC and if it's any different than the reviewers achieved (730mhz~ before blowup?)

The youtube video from sweden, card is an un-marked beta release; Tom's was a Beta release...

Seriously?

At my work we've had the beta cards for about a month, they're not =/= stock...Nor was the 6990.

Go back to 6990's beta's and look at first releases... OMG it's MAGIC!

Did you not think they could have been unmarked reference cards direct from Nvidia

As women would tell you, size matters.

I take it by "beta card" you mean engineering, or review sample, yes? - If so, then they are almost identical to the final version with the exception of the included accessories, in most cases. There is rarely ever a difference between the review product/sample and final retail version in terms of components or performance. It's almost always the drivers included and the extra stuff thrown in.
If you are implying that only the review sample 590s are dying or whatever else then I question your sanity. Most of the cards that were tested were retail versions, such as this one below. Notice the retail version of the box and the included adapters.

This doesn't sound like a jackhammer to me. Go to 4m30s

But the F16 seems about right. Go to 4m30s
