Actually, I've heard trifire and quadfire (to an extent) scales pretty good with the 6XXX series. Though, I do agree with the tri-SLI part.
ATI FANBOY....

To be fair, you can't TRi-fire that combo so pretty pointless.

Its 3 GPU vs 3 GPU at same price range.

Nah, I couldn't care less about vendors, I care about overall performance and the bang for the buck. If Nvidia provided this and SLI with a 580/570, then I'd be getting a 590 + 580/570 right now.

I'm counting cards, two versus two at the same price range. Sure, one's a dual-GPU. It'd be a awesome if Nvidia allowed this with the 590 and a 580/570, though.

You are incorrect. AMD cards allow tri-fire in that config.

good luck with tri fire and even better luck with ATI drivers...

I can not wait to upgrade from my 5850s because I have nothing but head aches with drivers... i cant imagine what tri fire would be like

I have not seen a SINGLE review that shows tri fire being even remotely worth the money

if you pull you head out of the sand you would note that 3x6970 will be faster then 6990 w. 6970

and even better if you really cared about your buck you would get 3x6950s and flash them to 6970s
