And im still not sure what the argument is here. Theres no risk when overvolting? There shouldn't be any risk when overvolting to the cards maximum spec? If that's really how you feel, then welcome to reality the first time you brick a card.
The sticker is yellow on the 6990, actully. But Grunion has a point. If the flagship product can't take a bit extra voltage (face it, cards like this are made to be overclocked.. except the 590) then what good is it?? OCP also kicks in on every application and not just furmark, so overclocking can still be tricky business, you don't just have to worry about it blowing but also throttling so it's not easy for those who were thinking of getting 580 sli performance for less

And some manufacturers are offering warranty on the 6990 in OC mode but then again, you can always just overvolt it yourself in Afterburner, without flicking the switch, and whose gonna know?..

Who said that again? The 590 is a bit flimsy compared to its competitor -- is what people found out in the last 24 hours. Just because you don't care about the 6990... doesn't mean some people aren't weighting purchase decisions.

And posting things just to get reactions I think we have a word for posters like that...

It's been said a few times, and applied several others by people thinking there's something to 'defend' here. It's simply reality.

And If people are weighing a purchase decision, they should be looking at things like this:

Being scared away by an overvolted card frying is a bit silly x.x; And yes, there is a word for that

Nope I have 2x5870 and after my experience with them I am switching to Nvidia until they get the drivers squared away. Plus I am unhappy with eyefinity performance and CCC.

My Laptop has a GTX460 and I Like using it much better. Works better with Tripple screen and HDMI out.

Not to say CCC, ATI HDMI out and eyefinity, don't work. They work fine it was just a pain in the ass to get it setup and working correctly.

I still have issues with my middle monitor getting disabled occasionally. Trouble shot it and found it to be a ATI driver issue with failure to recognize their "Gold Approved" Active DP-DVI adapter.

Soon as newegg gets my P67A replacement I can get my Intel/Nvida rig back up and running. Then when Bulldozer comes out I can upgrade my AMD rig. Then they can battle to become my main rig!

Lol, the fact that res lower than 1920 x 1200 is even considered invalidates that entire review.

You need to look up the meaning of troll FYI. Also if I replied to every retarded post you made I would have double the posts.
Don't care about the 6990, then why are you posting about it in your comments with inaccurate information.
The *facts are the 6990 is faster, overclocks, is more noisy and cheaper*(so I have heard, have not checked).
Nvidia's card is nice, I like it, but the overclocking issue is a serious one IMO. If I dump wedge on a card like that I am going to OC the crap out of it.

Of course people who overvolt are taking a risk to a certain degree, but to have multiple cards blowing up with small bumps in voltage is not normal.

But you are a big nvidia fan and special needs so I don't expect any of the above to sink in.
I remember you singing the praises of the GTX470 when you bought it on launch, great card eh, where is it now less than a year later? Must be pretty sucky to upgrade already?

But like every Zealot of Nvidia, slower than 6990, don't matter, more pricey, don't matter, explodes on overclocking, don't matter.

It has a quieter fan, which is the most important!

You still quote yourself in your sig, real funny. Legend.

Then I'll suggest something. If you're so "brave", give your 570 1.2v or more and run some benchmarks, and we'll see if you're not scared to kill it, and if it does die, make sure you upload the video so we can always see some fireworks.

Speaking of 570s. Some nice overclocked ones in sli I think is the nicest option at the moment.
These dual gpu cards really don't excite me.

You know that's not what I meant by that statement lol. And I don't overvolt beyond specifications until I have an upgrade in-hand. Talk to me around Kepler time and I can post results for ya

Where is the bravery lad!... But nobody wants to kill something on purpose, so its ok to be a bit cautious. Although the sparks are more fun.
