Safe CPU/nb freq

Thread Starter
I recently up'd my CPU/nb... Got it at 3250mhz at 1.5v, running a blend test now and 20min in no problems yet. Should I be backing it down or is this setting safe?

Side note, CPU-z shows nb freq at 2500mhz no matter what I change it to

Why do you need it more than 3000MHz at max??!

Also, I have only seen extreme boards going that far to be honest.

Also, not sure where I read it nor whether its true or not,
I think it does not matter how much you put, you cant go past what the board can handle, so 2500 is the max the board can handle maybe..?

That is to protect the system. Too much CPU/NB will punish your northbridge and maybe kill the CPU too. Keep it around 2500 and all is well...

I just tried a bunch of different settings and the only increase I can get was to 2640... Tried 2880 and it reverted on CPU-z to 2020... Kinda strange

My original OC that I've been running had it at 2750 which auto went back to 2500... Not sure y 2880 went so much further

In my opinion, 2600MHz is good, 2800MHz is plenty, and 3000MHz is a little overkill. I would keep it under 3000MHz/1.5v if I were you
