Acer Aspire 5739G CPU problem

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

CPU usage is around 80%, and my temperatures go so far that my laptop turns off. I'm trying to do my uni work, and there's an application I have to run, and it utilises 77%-99% of my GPU, and 80% of my processor, here's my CPUID:

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1729009

It fluctuates between 2.2ghz and 1.1ghz as it's a dual core. I've checked my power plans and such, I have it pretty much in performance mode.

Anyone have any ideas? I have my work due in tomorrow and it's driving me crazy!

As always any input is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I have the same problem with mine. I have the exact same machine Acer 5739G with T6600 and 240M.

I use Matlab and Maple14 to do a lot of computation. My CPU idles at 45-47C and I can't bring it down. I've had it shut down on me while running a small (30min to execute) matlab scripts because it over heats (hits about 82-85C).

I just ordered some Arctic Silver5 and i'm going to try it. The only thing is, you have to take the whole laptop apart to apply the thermal paste. Until then, I see you have some specs for a very nice desktop, I recommend remoting to run your application. I use remote through a VPN to run large scripts and projects on my Desktop at home (or at the university).

Try cleaning it out. Make sure the exhaust isn't covered with dust.

I'm assuming you don't have your "new build" to do the work on yet?
