MAX voltage HD6950

post #1 of 9
Thread Starter
Hi,

What is the MAX Safe voltage for a HD6950 ???

1,16 V works great, but I want to go further. Is 1,2 V ok ?
And for 950 core clock, with V is recommended ?

Thanks in advance smile.gif.

I would not go above 1.3 for 24/7, even that's only if you're daring.

For me the these are my best stable clocks:

1.1v --> 860mhz
1.2v --> 910mhz
1.3v --> 940mhz

As you can see there is a very clear diminishing return going on here which is why I didn't bother going higher, even though you can unlock Afterburner to give it more voltage above 1.3.

1.2v is perfectly fine for 24.7. Just make sure to set a different fan profile in afterburner as you will easily hit 85c with AMD's default wussy fan curve.

My cards reached 920 on stock volts. Are you sure you need to increase volts if you are happy with 900 - 920?

It depends on what cooling you are running
1.2 will be ok with stock cooler, but you will need to run your fan at a high speed (60-70%)
1.3 is fine if you are using water

Mines 1.31V 1003MHz stable. Very loud fan =) 66C in Battlefield 2 multiplayer max settings 1080p. For some reason in GTA EFLC performance is well.. worse.. I know its terribly coded but the game should run better with a 193MHz overclock... Its weird lol. BF2 is like avg 65 fps I dont know if thats an improvement... ? Lol

I'm running 950MHz at 1.15V on air. Is it a reference card?
