Should I jump on this 2nd GTX 580?

Hey, Ive been looking for cheap GTX 580's in Norway, and came upon a used one for $538. cheapest I can find that has them in stock is $630.5
(inflated prices ftw -.-')

He says its been used for 2 months, maybe not even that. there is only one picture and it's clearly from the internet, and its sold as "nearly new"

He's complete name and adress is in the sales page, so I looked him up on FB where he states
Quote:
I finally got my new GTX 580 installed today
date: december 16th
So its older than 2 months

I sent him a E-mail yesterday, but havent gotten a reply yet, so though I should call him.

But the question. Should I take the risk that there is nothing wrong with this card?
as I plan to watercool it, the $100 would really help with the waterblock pricing.

This is something commonly done by a lot of people, they shave off a month a two to make it sound better. (2 months sounds much better than 4 months when describing an item)
In most cases, it doesn't mean anything bad; a lot of sellers are guilty of this.

Ask him to take a picture of it with his name on a paper next to it. Are you paying in person? If so, make sure to test it out first. If not, then pay by something that offers you protection, like paypal.

he didnt register his card within the 30 day limit, so it doesnt have warranty.

since I was planning to put it under water, I offered $450, but he said no, so I passed

Good. I would have done the same.

On another note, how hard is it to sign up for a warranty with in 30 days ? Are people that lazy / busy ?

That's a good question, especial when some companies will extend the warranty for certain number of months if you sign up within 30 days. I know Samsung gives you an extra month or two onto the warranty if you register within 30 days.

Nope, Asus runs on serial codes alone.
