Don't buy "gaming" headphones (logitech, Razer, ROCCAT). Buy real headphones (Sennheiser HD555 with foam mod, Audio-Technica AD700 or ATH-M50, Grado SR60, Ultra-Fi HFI-580s) and buy a clip on mic (Zalman apparently makes a good one). You won't be disappointed!

I love mine although I will probably go for the Sennheiser 650 next time.

Yeah man, that's why I said I currently own the Razer set and made this thread to look for suggestions for "real" ones.

I used to play COD1/2/4 competitively, from online brackets such as CAL I, CEVO, TGL, etc and thats just to name a few online, to NERV, STL events, Kansas Event, etc. So I have been around the whole ' Must have a headset ' scene. Which in those type events headsets are much easier and less messy.

I started off using SteelSeries only products. Which, don't get me wrong, are GREAT products and I still use their products today but they arn't the best you can get.

Now, if you want the BEST sound quality while your just chillin at home the only way to go is CLIP ON MIC, like a Zalman Clip on, and a good pair of Sen 555's or some AD700's. I have had a pair of both, and I loved them both equally. The clip on mic is MUCH more crisp and clear than any built in mic you can get.

Also like I said earlier, when I go to lan's or just a buddies house to play some games I always bring a headset. Just having less wires at places like that is always a bonus.

So hang on to your Razer's and get yourself a nice pair of 555's or AD700's, and a Zalman clip on.

You'll be good to go!

Great info. Thanks! These AD700s are good? Even though they're only $80?

You'd be pleasantly surprised at the audio quality you can get for 100 bucks. With a bigger budget you can get even better! Just look up the upgraded versions of the headphones I mentioned (except the HD555s, the HD595 is just the 555 with a slight modification that you can do at home ) All of those companies that I listed make better headphones. Check out head-fi.org for a plethora of information on headphones
