Should i upgrade my cpu or my graphics card? - Page 3

I have 2*GTX 460 1GB cards in my machine and a GTX 480 and have to say the GTX 460s are great cards. If I had relized how good I would of stayed with the GTX 460. But tge machine was mainly used for folding.Hence the GPU in the machine.

With these, is it a simple matter of raising the fsb since the multiplier is at 10x, and raising the vcore, with a ram ratio of 1:1, raising the voltage a bit?

I'm not bottlenecked with a 5770 here.

EDIT: 5770 is a heck of a card, maxes most things in 1080p @ 30+ FPS

Why are people saying that the E6700 overclocked to 3.2ghz will bottleneck a GTX 560 and lower? There are people with GTX 580's that have no bottleneck what so ever and are using the same core at 3ghz. Fact: A core 2 duo at 3ghz or more WILL NOT bottleneck a GTX 580 or lower.

I can't speak for SLI GTX 580 or any big sli cards. But from everything I have seen Core 2 Duos are strong CPU's once overclocked.

That's what i thought, but people keep saying that even if it's overclocked it'll be bottlenecked. I'm not planning to go to a 580, i don't have the budget, but i was going to buy a 560ti. I did want some advice on raising the vcore and ram voltages/ratios, because the multiplier is 10, so the fsb will go easily.

The 560ti will be no problem for an overclocked Core 2. The voltage for the CPU at 3.2ghz should be set at 1.35, and ram overclocked to 800mhz (should give you 1:1) should be tried at 2.0v-2.1v. I have mine at 2.1v.

EDIT: Also 3.2ghz is barely pushing the limit for the Core 2 duo. You could do at least 3.6ghz if you have an aftermarket heatsink. Otherwise 3.2ghz is very easy, and requires no effort.
