Why is it so hard to find Sandy Bridge CPUs?

I'm looking for the 2500S but it seems almost none of the major retailers sell them. They are officially out from Intel by why arnt they in stock? It seems about half of the Sandy Bridge CPUs are very hard to come by.

They are either very popular or they are having throuble re-stocking due to the motherboard problem

I'm building a mini ITX pc so I prefer power saving over performance. I also just bought a H67 board so no reason to go with a K series, since i'll use a dedicated GPU and no need for the better K series GPU. I'm trying to get the most power efficient CPU so I can go all out on the GPU.

Its gotta be the mobo issue. If nobody is buying new mobos they probably arent selling many of the CPUs either, so no reason to keep them in stock.

Yeah this is my guess. I was just wondering since I thought maybe I was missing something

If the mobo has voltage options you could get any CPU and lower the voltage to get S-like or even lower power consumption.

I underclocked and undervolted my E5200 to 2GHz and 0.88v for my server. It just sips the juice!

microcenter does, and so does fry's... never count on best buy to have anything in terms of newly released hardware.
