Recommend me some good headphones !

My ****ty Logitech headphones just broke, so this time I want to buy at least a semi decent pair of headphones which will last me for quite a time. Anyway I basically need the headphones (or actually set, since I don't have a separate mic) for talking, video game playing and music listening. I have heard good stuff about the Sennheiser brand, but which ones to get for a reasonable price ? (I wanna spend money on them so that I get something which will last me for quite some time but dont wanna waste huge amounts).

I wanna' buy a car, but don't want to spend too much, but I want it to last me long long time. Not sure how many cylinders, not sure how many gas milages, not sure if SUV or car.

Basically, we need a budget, what music you want to listen to, how much gaming you're going to be doing with them, what sound card you have or are planning to purchase, ratio of gaming to music you're going to be doing etc.

The Sennheiser HD555s are good and can be modded to something very similar to the HD595s. The the AD700s from audio technica come highly recommended because of their excellent sound stage, which is beneficial for FPS. Also if you like rock I would recommend the Grado SR80i, which make guitar sound amazing. All of these will last you for a long time.

I just threw that out there, but it may not fall within your budget or what you are looking for.

Well I do everything, I also listen to music while playing certain games for example if there is no one for me to talk to in Skype at that moment. I have a wide variety of music but I need headphones that wont get quickly worn out by stuff like Waters of Nazareth from Justice (or similar rough sounds).

My budget is 100 euros which is not the same as 100$ but it pretty much translates to that since what is 100$ there is likely gonna be 100 euros here :/ I can go abit above though. I can also get a mic seperately but dont really need a very high quality mic, just something really decent for the money.

My sound card is the same that came with the MB.

AD700 with a Zalman clip-on mic. The AD700 is an open-backed headset that's REALLY REALLY comfy and provides excellent soundstage. This'll help in games for hearing footsteps and the like.

The only drawbacks to the AD700 are that, because it's open-backed, it lacks the bass of closed-backed headphones. Also, sound tends to leak out of the headphones due to the open design.

EDIT: The closed-back variant, the A700's, are decent as well. More sound isolation, a bit more bass, but smaller soundstage. If you want more bass, A700's probably the way to go.

This is the general suggestion that everyone puts out. The Zalman ZM-Mic1 clipon mic is absoloutely excellent, if you need a mic with a stand however, the Logitech Desktop mic is also an option, been using one for over 5 years now and it's still working great.

The thing with the AD700 is that they are ass ugly, fuscia and matte gold painted. However, as an open headset the quality is too good for the looks to be a setback.
If you want good looking cans, go for the 555's, they're pretty much the same in sound quality however they lack as much bass.

Hope that helps, gives a quick view from each angle.

I do agree with this assessment. Personally, I don't mind the intrusive looks of the AD700. I've tried the 555's before, and I find their lack of bass is a huge turn-off for me. They ARE definitely comfortable and produce quality sound (except the bass).

One question, have you used tritons before? For the price, (120) they are freaking awesome.
