You're late, and no. It's a VRM issue.

No warranty?

This is why 1 fan to cool a dual GPU card is a stupid idea, especially overclocked. Until they get a cooler with a fan for each GPU + 1 for the VRMs (sort of like the Gigabyte's GTX 480 SOC cooler), both the 6990 and GTX 590 are a waste of money, unless you're going to put them under water of course.

Yeah I know what you mean. That's one of the main reasons why I bought a GTX 460 instead of another 8800 series card, it runs cool even in a case with close to no airflow (60C under Furmark with a decent overclock of about 840MHz core/4GHz memory) compared to my 8800GT which died at stock clocks, which was like 70C at idle and in the mid 100C degrees at load.

Also this is why I would take an open-cooled GPU over these exhaust-cooled cards any day. They're easier to clean/cool and to tell if it's gonna die or not from a bad capacitor or something (my 8800GT had this problem, but until I opened it after it was dead I couldn't tell thanks to the plastic cover on it).
