I would love to see some sort of timeline of ambient temps in the room after booting them.

If only I was that motivated Luckily there is an A/C vent directly behind the tower. The hard part is getting a darn USB WiFi stick to work on the server, Linux can be a real pain in the arse.

Yes, but HT is turned off. Anyone who has played with distributed computing for a while will know why. But the gist is that it causes very indeterministic behavior, and eats more power than what the performance benefit is worth, which usually doesn't matter, but when you have 8...

How would something like this be accomplished?

I think I have a few old P4 rigs together and I'd like to try something like this.

The hardware is easy, just get a switch, server and compute nodes. The hard part is getting the software configured. Well, I take that back. If you want a diskless cluster like this, then the config is rough, but if they all have HDD's then you should be able to install Linux on them all and then setup a basic NFS. Then install whatever cluster apps you want (PBS, MPICH, etc).
