Oh yeah there are tons of threads on overclocking the 775 socket and probably just as many about the q6600. It was and is still a semi popular chip. Not sure how the overclocking features are on your specific board but can give it a shot. You will need to post some more info about your specific board. What brand it is and such. Best advice I can give at this point if you are going to get into oc'ing is be patient and be prepared to get addicted. Also an aftermarket air cooler would help you out a lot if you are going to push it a good bit. Can probably find one in the sale section for a decent price.

Geeze, are they really that expensive? I never really looked at them. I'd always preferred to do it myself so never bothered.

K so I ran primse 05 for about an hour. It said all tests passed, no errors or warning. My temps for all 4 cores never passed 55C althought my core cpu went to 70c. So i'm asking does it seems stable enough to OC my procressor a little past 2.4Ghz

If you plan on OCing your current CPU...I would recommend a good CPU cooler for it, and also what case do you have?? Is the Airflow good?? If the airflow isnt good, it wouldnt matter what CPU cooler you put on it...It would be hard to keep cool a OCed CPU when the interior temps are in the 50C range...

No matter how good it is, I would never overclock a Dell. Probably a new processor would be all you need. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-041-_-Product This actually has more cache and draws less power. But yeah, Alienwares are ripoffs.
