I will pm you with a question so I do not derail this thread.
As much as I hate to tell you this, i'm pretty sure it's stolen. Does your school have security cameras? Some guy broke into a locker and stole someone's iphone 4. That's how he was caught. Phone was returned to owner immediately.

I was a kid not THAT long ago, and my mom told me I would lose my head if it weren't connected to my shoulders...

Seriously I've lost SO many things over the years (stuff like...jeez..anything from Gameboys to keys to game systems) that I'd be a millionaire if I had all that stuff...

Heck I even left my tournament chess set/clock/bag at a bus stop, on the way to a chess club once!! Lucky a good sarmartian picked it up and called me (my number was on an xgaming business card left inside). Just the chess clock itself was a Chronos and worth $125...

I'm 39 now, and I still have a number of younger friends your age (including some great friends in my Crossfire clan), and I'm ALWAYS on them about keeping track of their stuff.

Back during the good old street fighter 2 days, there was a very limited amount of portable stuff you could lose. (usually just keys, gameboys or wallets ). Now you kids have SO MANY cool things to lose. Nintendo DS's, cell phones, ipads, iphones, laptops (ESPECIALLY laptops!), a million different USB devices...

Hopefully my wall of text will help you avoid losing stuff in the future.
But anyway:

#1:
ALWAYS Be aware of what you're doing. This is the biggie.
Basically, if you put something down, BE AWARE that you're putting it down. We often put stuff down as "instinct." Do that, and you're setting yourself up for losing it. What goes down must come back up. Remember that.

#2: Before going anywhere, ask yourself if you have everything you came with. This takes 20 seconds of your time, and could save you a gotcha.

#3: Do NOT leave anything valuable unsecured! Don't store your iphones and DSi's on a library couch while you run off to see what book report your friends are raging about in the next room. Keep everything in your backpack if not in use. And don't even fully rely on friends to watch your stuff unless you HAVE to, because you never know if THEY might wind up forgetting something. So if you're going to bring expensive stuff with you, keep it with you.

I hope this helps. And don't lose hope...it IS possible that someone may turn it in. I've seen weirder stuff happen in my life. Not everyone is a thief without a heart.

I know you know all of this stuff already, but it never hurts to have someone else rub it into you. You'll be grateful someone did, when it helps save your gear.

-Ike

I don't have mobileme. Never really thought it was worth the 100 dollars...

I know it was stolen, in a sense at least.

How I left it is like so. Every day I listen to music, after my last class I go to walk out to my car and put my headphones in to listen to some music, this is essentially how I know I have my phone. But today my phone was dead and I have a temp of 100, so just out of it in general.

Plan for tomorrow. I will be going to the library and ask if she knew anyone that came in after I left. Seek possible roots, no lead then wait until my last class, ask fellow class mates if they have seen it, again if no lead I will go to the dean. We have security camera everywhere, over 500. So I will check if they have any in the library tomorrow while asking her if she has seen anyone and ask the dean if he can recover the tapes. If I find out who took it punish him to the fullest extent of the law. Well that is the plan anyway, I will let you all know how it goes.

What I do with my portable things..

I always put them in the same pocket each time I leave, i.e. car key right front, wallet right back, house keys/remote left back, phone left front or jacket top left..

It somehow works, if you feel an empty pocket you get that feeling you lost/forgot something and immediately start looking for it..

And yeah, I read some time ago that Apple could do remote wipes thorugh itunes and even block it out..

Mobileme is free o.o and do that plan of yours. If there's that many cameras, it shouldn't be hard to catch someone stealing your iphone from the library.

You went to the effort to look up a picture just to laugh at a person who lost their phone, how sad.

I really do feel you. Hope everything works out well, and it should be pretty unique with that red backplate. I always keep my iPhone in my pocket, and since I wear skinny jeans, I can always feel it there. Been there before, having to deal with lost stuff.
