Fallout 3 Crashes when i click "play"

I found some info on this thread:

http://www.overclock.net/pc-games/42...h-every-4.html

However it hasn't been posted on in months.

There was one poster who must have the exact same problem as me, Shadowcrazy, because he has the Intel 965 chipset, the exact same one in my laptop. He was never answered, so I don't know what worked for him. However, everything else mentioned in the thread does not work.

I have tried patches, ran a driver cleaning program, installed new drivers from Intel website, made sure all graphic settings were lowest (no effects, no AA), to no avail. I tried a configuration setting change that didn't work either.

Exact issue: Game starts up fine, I click start, New game? Yes, then it loads for about 3 seconds and crashes to a black screen with a "Windows is checking for a solution..." and I'm forced to close it by ending its process. Windows solution thingy says there's an update at the developer's website, which I had to find no thanks to microsoft (who gave me broken links) but the update didn't do anything from what I can see.

This is exactly why I never buy Intel laptops, because they come bundled with their WONDERFUL graphics as well. It's my sister's computer.

I really hope someone has some ideas, because she's paying me if I get it fixed

NOT THE ONE IN MY SIG:
Gateway M-series laptop (too lazy to find exact model)
Intel 965 Chipset
32-bit Vista
Core 2 Duo T7500 @ 2.2GHz
3GB RAM

Note: Hard disk failed and we had to reinstall Windows from Gateway's OS disk; this didn't include any of the drivers so many on here are universal drivers.... I really hope this isn't an audio issue, because then I'm probably SOL.

I have the same thing, Intel GMA is never intended to run anything more graphics intensive than like 6 year old games. I had trouble getting Runescape to run smoothly >.> I wanted to try Fo3 on my laptop, so I checked youtube and saw that without the FallBack mod, it always crashes on 965. Sorry dude :\\ I'm in the same boat until I get a gaming computer. This is your best bet, but it's prohibitively expensive.

Eh. Thanks man. You saved me from continuing my investigation for another 2 hours. This isn't my problem, but I doubt I'm getting paid. lawl. Thanks again.
