Frankly, once you buy a song you should be able to choose exactly what bitrate you want.
This.

If I'm paying for music, I want 100% lossless. When I buy music, I buy overpriced CDs. Otherwise I resort to [FLAC] Linux distro's.

I like how one person mentions not buying music and some people immediately jump to conclusions about pirating. Get over yourselves, I havent bought music in forever either. Granted I dont listen to it much anyways but when I do I use Pandora or grooveshark.

So how does it work exactly? Do we pay for each song (preferable cheap) or is it a streaming service (thats ad funded or paid for). I will be honest, I'd prefer the streaming service or something like zune, a monthly payment for as many songs as you want is brilliant for the end user and a fairly hefty income would be generated too.

I hope its something like Zune or eMusic.com, download as much music as you want for a month. However, for zune, you can only keep 2 .

Is this a streaming service? I hope they offer downloads at a reasonable price. Maybe (a huge maybe) then i'll stop buying CDs.

From what i read about honeycomb, theres a new section in the "accounts & sync" part of settings that adds "music" alongside gmail, calendar, etc. Apparently it will sync music on your phone to your google account and allow any phone signed into that google account to stream the songs or download them to the phone (similar to how apps restore after installing a new rom).

Again, i can't remember where i read this and it might have changed since then, but that's what i read. Very excited to see how this unfolds.

Or even if they do, just concert profits are not enough support.
If you like an artist and want to support him, buy his music. Simple as that.

OT: nice to see this, some competition.

But in all seriousness, I'm happy to have Google in the music industry.
