Suggestion for mobo for AMD X4 635

Hi friends,

I have bought AMD X4 635 processor with:

Corsair XMS3 (1600 mhz) 4 GB Ram
Corsair CX400 - SMPS
Bijli Cabinet (Zebtronics)
LG DVD RW
1 TB Seagate.

Now I am waiting to get a good Overclocking MOBO for the above processor. I had liked Gigabyte 880GA-UD3H as it was also supporting the AM3+ processors.

But today I found that Gigabyte site has removed the TAG showing AM3+ compatibility with this mobo. So confused.....

Pls also give me the link for a good guide for Overclocking X4 635 processor.

Pls help me.

If you want to do some serious oc, you have to get one of these boards - 890FX/GX, 880G, 790X, 790GX/FX. Gigabyte and Asus are trusted brands. Keep in mind that these will cost quite a bit more than cheap boards. Now, the board you have selected does come in a AM3+ model. You have to look for revision 3.1 of that boards, search google/gigabyte-site for "880GA-UD3H rev3.1" ( identifying this board is easy, it sports a black cpu socket rather than a white one ). This mobo has 880G chipset which is quite good for OC but it has only 4+1 phase VRM and no VRM cooler which can be a problem in case of high OC settings.
Also remember, the stock coolers which come with athlon2 x4 cpus are pure crap. You have to buy an aftermarket cpu-cooler if you want to OC. The cheapest option would be a coolermaster hyper-tx3. CM hyper 212 and hyper n620 are a bit better.

The Athlon II x4 is a 95W TDP CPU.... 4+1 phase is not as big of a concern here, but if it's a quality VRM such as this one, I would say safe for overclocking 95W if below 1.5V.
Then again the 880G chipset might be useless for you if you already have a graphics card.... in which case I recommend you just get an 870 chipset board. They apparently overclock better anyways.

Pls see the snap below taken after OCing the PC to 3.4 ghz by increasing the FSB to 238, lowering the nb multiplyer to 9X and Ram to 6.66. Pls tell if the temp. are correct and within limit.

Looking good at 44c, as you see on core temp the maximum temperature is around 60c.
