ok here are my specs

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
(1) Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz 8M Processor
(2) 2GB DDR2 PC6400 800MHz DIMM Memory
(1) nVidia nForce 680i LT SLI Motherboard
(1) Seagate 250GB SATA 3G Hard Drive
(1) GeForce 570gtx
(1) 20X DVDRW Dual Layer Drive
(1) Corsair 600W Power Supply

Ok so i recently bought a closed system CPU cooling unit and I was hoping to Over Clock my CPU to anywhere between 3.0GHz-3.4GHz not sure if that possible but that what I would like to shoot for, problem is I cant find any of the bios settings in my BIOS i am in fear that is is a locked BIOS, also I have nforce software from nVida which I assume I could use to OVERclock, but I have no idea what I am do, and any help/tips/walkthoughs would be very much appriciated thank you

Welcome to overclock.net

The limit for that motherboard is going to be right around 3.0 - 3.2, its not that great for overclocking C2Q's

Which brand is it?
EVGA, XFX ??

Here is a 680i Overclocking Guide - http://forums.overclockersclub.com/i...howtopic=69989

Unfortunatly all my specs and everything I looked at I cannot tell who the manufaturer of my mother board is all it says is nvidia 689i LT SLI it doesnt tell me if its xfx or Evga, I got a premade PC so I have no idea
the modle is 680iLT and im assuming the serial number is: snc302eeh and ill be happy as long as i can get 3.0-3.1 ghz outta it

Most prebuilts, unless from a boutique vendor, have the overclocking options removed from the BIOS.

Not entirely, most prebuilts use the low end cheap parts, and usually that means the board has no real overclocking options..

You cant really "remove" options in the bios, meaning if he had an evga or xfx board it would be no different than any othe evga or xfx board...

I cant find much info on that serial number aside from Systemax, which makes me assume its a Tigerdirect or Compusa prebuilt system??

If you download CPU-Z and open it, go to the "Mainboard" tab and it should show the Manufacturer..

The manufaturer says Nvidia, and yeah you hit the nail on the head it was a Tigers Direct purchase... Ok so i have figured out how to OverClock, thanks to that pro walkthrough yuo sent me, but what im wondering now, are my voltage uses, and how to keep them, at the safest settings without underpowering my system, oh and how do you take a Screen Shot of your CUP-Z screen? also thank you very much for your help so far, im off to bed for a few hours but i will check the forums back in the morning or late afternoon since its already 5am where i am lol... but I do have it running at 3GHz atm so far so good it seems and I was able to drop the CPU Voltage to 1.375

Traction software's "ScreenGrab Pro" is what I use, its a paid program but you can get a 30 day evaluation...
Or use Microsoft Paint, open it and minimize, press "PrintScreen" on your keyboard, maximize Paint and click "Paste" viola you have a screen shot of whatever was up when you pressed PrintScreen....

As far as your board goes, Nvidia is the chip of the board, its a Nvidia 680i, but different companies produce it. It could be Evga, or XFX or Asus or etc...

Chances are if you dont see any of those brand names on the motherboard itself then it could just be a generic...

Try using PC-Wizzard, it should give you the motherboard model number.. http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/pc-wizard.html

Alright so I ran PC wizard, and the mainboard was listed as "Nvidia Unspecified" so yeah prolly generic, so im not sure what that means for me but, yeah... also so it seems im running stable atm and im not sure but it seems some of my voltages might be high, and i wanna lower them if thats the case right now its running..
CPU: 1.375
Memory: 1.8500
FSB: 1.40
HT(SPP-MCP): 1.20
PCI-E: 1.2500

nForce: 1.5000

CPU: 1.375 - Should be good for 3.0
Memory: 1.8500 - Check what your default voltage is for your ram, whats the model?
FSB: 1.40 - could lower it maybe 1.325 - 1.35, try and run a stress test....
HT(SPP-MCP): 1.20 - fine...
PCI-E: 1.2500 - dont really know, google search may help....
nForce: 1.5000 - 1.40 may be ok, but do a google search...
Aux: 1.5000 - not sure either, google....

Use Prime95 Blend test for 8 - 12 hours, if temp goes above 75c its too hot... You will see max temps in the first 15 to 30 minutes.. If it errors or blue screens you need more vcore.
I know you said you have an aftermarket cooler, which one is it tho??? Brand/Model...

Also try going here and filling out your system specs, CPU - Ram - Boar (what you know of it) - Power Supply etc... http://www.overclock.net/specs.php?do=addsystem giv it a name of your choosing...
THis helps us help you better....
