GTX 590 and AMD 6990 = FAIL - Page 9

I see where you're coming from, but there's no need to troll the OP. I agree w/ him to some degree. I saved up $1000 anticipating these cards and I've honestly been pretty disappointed.

I never planned on buying the 6990 as I've had bad experiences with xfire and crap drivers. But I was really holding out for the 590. I was expecting it to be an overclocking monster and instead it barely gets overvolted and dies a horrible death. Completely unacceptable for a top of the line, enthusiast card. I'm holding out a month or two to see if someone will put out a custom 590 with better voltage control/cooling/oc capabilites. Its doubtful in the next two months - but a guy can dream, right?

It's funny you know, last fall I was planning on buying a 590 and crysis 2 in the spring. But instead, crysis 2 ends up w/ no dx11 and plays great on my 5850... The 590 (which I thought I would need for crysis 2) can only tie the 6990 and has little OC headroom...

...in short, March has been a disappointing month.

I'm so glad I went with the GTX 580's. I'm not really impressed by the dual gpu cards, seems like a compromise with power and clocks that I'd rather not deal with.

3-4 times faster yeah right.
So you expect the kepler to run metro maxed at 200fps+?, please, I am laughing so hard now.

I thought they were both unimpressive, considering how much they cost but that's my opinion. I guess the one buying these dont care too much(maybe) about the cost. Waiting for and hoping the next gen will yield a much bigger performance jump and power efficiency.

The 590 = fail with their heat issues, noise, and weak VRM. Causing the card to blow up with a little overclock.

The 6990 wasn't a failure. It's what everyone expected, two 69xx card in one. Before the release everyone knew the 6990 is going to be loud. Everyone knew the scaling on these card is going to be good as any 6xxx series. It's just what everyone expected. The card overclock potential is good a lot better than the 590 w/o any excessive smoke coming out. To me, it meet every expectation.

I expected a lot from the 590 but was disappointed at the end.

There's this thing called "the second half of a sentence." In this case, it said "per watt."

Also, I think you just responded to a troll.
