Heatsink won't fit motherboard

Thread Starter
I bought an ASUS P8P67 WS Revolution motherboard. I had a Prolimatech Armageddon heat sink all ready to go but it won't fit. It doesn't clear the heatsinks around the CPU socket. I want high quality air cooling but need something that will fit. I'm thinking a Prolimatech Megahalem. I measured and I believe it will fit.

Are there any other coolers of that magnitude that will fit on this board that you know of? Also if anyone has a link to some good CPU cooler comparison charts that would be awesome? Thank you

Here is my mother board and the heat sink I can't use.

Coolers in the same rank of Megahalem and Armageddon include: Thermalright's Archon and Silver Arrow, Noctua's NH-D14.

Archon: when fitted to your Asus P8P67 WS Revolution, it will block the first PCIex16 slot and so it is not suitable.

NH-D14: its official motherboard compatibility list includes all Asus P8P67 variants except the WS Revolution. So, while it has a good chance to fit, it is still uncertain. There is a big fan club of the NH-D14 here in OCN. Perhaps you can go in there and ask around.

Silver Arrow: it is listed in TR's MCL (see pic below) and so it will fit. Additionally, I think your Corsair XMS3 RAM do not have tall heatsink. So, the chance that the RAM hitting a fan of the Silver Arrow is small (see pic 2 below for an example of the RAM underneath the fan of the Silver Arrow). But you can check the dimensions.

If the XMS3 heatspreaders are going to heat your heat sink no ram is likely to be able to fit under them.
