i cant put externel fan in the middle the cards are really close to each other they almost in touch.
i will make a screenshot rite now.
You should keep it in the 3rd slot - the difference between 16x and 8x is 2-3% so maybe 4-5 fps.

I wouldn't suggest downgrading to an 8x slot when the 16x slot is there, 78c is nothing to get hyperactive about trust me.

Mine goes up to 72c with the default fan profile and overclocked.

If he wants lower temps and quieter fans and is only going to lose 1-5 fps - it really isnt an issue.

Look how many people are sli'ing on p67 boards with 8x8

The gap between the cards is more than enough. Just get some nice fresh airflow in-between them. That is down to you, or if you don't mind the noise run them both @ 100% fan all the time

Considered changing the TIM on the cards?
I changed the TIM on my 470 and dropped the temperatures by quite a bit.

Just get a fan between those cards, and it's no problem.

78 is nothing really, should be running on 90+ before you should even worry about it.

Wow the english and grammar in this thread, blows me away...

Your fans are not gonna die raising them above 60% fan speed, why no one told you that earlier is beyond me.. They are expected to run at any fan speed for a long time. I have mine at 70% when I play BC2 and only get to about 58c max. (No Sli granted, but eh)

Also, add a 120mm to blow on the cards to cool them down...Add another to exhaust it.

These are simple suggestions that no one suggested really......
You will get this problem with SLi set ups, as heat rises, your top card cooks. So raising those fan speeds will make a great difference.
