Question about Directx 11

Thread Starter
Im currently running the nvidia gts 250, and my system is updated with directx 11, but whenever I try to run benchmarks using dx11 I receive errors telling me my hardware is not compatible with dx11 even though its installed. Is it possible for my hardware not to support dx11 even though it seems to be installed and listed in dxdiag? Just tying to understand this a little better.

Thanks.

just card of the 5000 series and GTX400 series and up support DX11 . the GTX250 is a DX9/10 card .

it's not software specific it's hardware that's why you can't run DX11 even with DX11 software

Thats cause the GTS 250 doesn't support DX11.

Just because your software supports DX11, doesn't mean your hardware does.

You have DX11 software installed, but the hardware may not neccessary support the API.
So Win7 will still show DX version - 11, but you are only able to utilize DX9/10 APIs.
