H50 at 60 Celsius ? ?? - Page 2

I thing I should include is that when I re-installed the H50 , and put the screws for 1156 they WOULD not align with the P8P67 CPU holes correctly. I had to cut the struts (narrow) one on the top , and so got them aligned. However , even though the thin strut is now severed , I managed to get a firm fit on all sides . I might have to re-check it indeed. I use CF III thermal compound ..

Thanks for the feedback .

I too had problems re-fitting my H50 from socket 775 to 1155, it was a very tight fit, took me a few attempts to get it right, and quite some time. Also I had to put some new double sided tape on the back plate to help stick it to the back of the motherboard.

It sounds like you may have to try re-seating the cooler, if temp monitoring and BIOS are reading high.

oh and definitely clean your rad out, it will get those temps down!

Overclock is 16% , 103 Bus speed , at 3811 Mhz

I get 39 ~ 40 now at idle

and I got the Fan that came with the H50 and added one on the other side, no shrouds ...

When I switched from 775 to 1155 , I simply slipped the screws thought the 1156 indentations (holes) and the damn thing refused to line up on the P8P67 (B3) , so if there isn't anyone in this discussion who has the same board , mine must be special then, or i'm speciall ^^

anyhow , if one would remove all together the narrow struts on the back plate , it is quite safe to say that the screw still have enough leverage to grasp on to the locking bracket and backplate for a snug fit. Those narrow struts aren't going to offer any significant additional support in my opinion. 4 screws and rubber washers would also do the trick. I can't imagine that I might have badly mounted the cooler head on to the CPU , cause the locking bracket is pretty much idiot-proof , so I took notice of it. It's on there pretty tight.

Maybe the RADIATOR then , but 10 degrees difference , very strange ...

May I ask when you got the holes lined up , was the backplate bulging ?

I have the Radiator installed in such a way that the hoses running to it are on the upper side , any correlation you think ? Previous system I had it the same way , and temps were lower ! How long do they go for ?

I've got the same board and CPU with a H50 and i had the same problem but i just rested it on the mobo then just put the locking nuts where they would line up and put them in because following the guide for the 1156 didn't line up properly.

I got 4.8 with 48 multipliers now and did a stress test , the TEMPS went to 80 plus ...
I get 60 ~ 62 when running that speed Idle

What to do ? might the cooler just be bad , and or the CPU a bad one ?
I'm afraid to do anymore tests , 4.8 Ghz is claimed to be achievable with this chip and setup , I wonder what could be wrong.

I just built an i5-760 rig with an h50.It's overclocked to 3.9 at 1.20 volts. My idle is 30 degrees. You have done something wrong. You should check to see it's making full contact.

Each chip is different for every 2500k that makes it to 5ghz there are plenty that never will some will never even manage a stable 4.5ghz its the nature of the beast. What vcore settings are you using? they have a huge effect on the temp.

Have you cleaned the rad yet? have you reseated the cooler yet? those realy are two things that could make a huge ammount of difference.

Thanks for responding ,

To be honest , haven't yet taken out the cooler and reseated it , plan to do that tomorrow. The V-core is set to and off set of 1.20 ~ 1.25 I believe , in CPU-z it's reading a little higher at 1.502 ~ 1.512 V ^^ guess that is too high , i'll try to lower it as much as possible to see any effect. But as I feared without the overclock my idles were really stinky ...
