I see you too are operating a once praised Dual GPU like me^^
I intentionally went Quad SLI to save money for Kepler
It will be an evolutionary step up!

Yeah there isn´t much to know really^^.
You will hold up pretty good with your card until the new generation is released.
If you will require more power do the same thing I did get a cheap second card from ebay and Quad SLI them or in your case Crossfire them.

By the time Kepler arrives you can sell both your cards
But since you have ATI you might be further interested in the other side´s release parallel to Kepler.
AMD 7000 will also be released so ATI will be able to compete of course^^
If you keep your card you will probably be able to hybrid CF them
Unfortunetly there is no data known about it yet.

Im new here so hi everyone. I know this thread is old now but i thought i'd add in a quick point to what ive read, im in the UK and as it stands now the 6990 is £50 less then the 590 which is $83.34.

So the price difference right now if you have a water cooled rig would pay for your water block to make the 6990 a lot quieter (that is of course relying on your rig being able to handle the heat load).

As for the heat and noise as it is now, the heat different is around 8'C or 15'F which is 1/8th of the total heat of the 6990 which is not alot but still a good chunk. But the noise is due to high fan speeds, i know on my own experience of my ATI cards, they are noisy no doubt about it, but my query would be, what if you where to drop the fan speed so the temperatures of the 6990 and 590 where the same? how would the noise be hit then? as its from my experience the last 30% that really boosts the noise output of the stock coolers supplied with the cards.

I'm no expert on GPU's, far from it as my own rigs have only ever consisted of a 5770 and 5750, but i thought i'd through out my idea and see what everyone thinks.

Regards,
Jamie
