Ordered a 590. What's about my 295?

Thread Starter
I just ordered a Zotac GTX590 (w00t!). I'm thinking of using my current card as a Physx processor. But as far as I know only a single GPU can be used as Physx. So that means I'll use a 270, right? If that is the case I'm thinking about giving the 295 away to my brother and taking his 280 and using it instead. Am I on the right path here?

I would say either:

a) fold with it; or,
b) trade for your brothers 280 for PhysX (he gets a decent upgrade in the process)

You can use the 295 for Physx, but it will only utilize one GPU. so its pretty much just a space heater.
Yes that would be correct.
Also anything above a gtx 260 216 returns with minimal results.

B would be the best choice. the 280 will have more PhysX power and your brother will have nearly 2x the GPU power

this is quite possibly the most uninformed comment on OCN.
I use a 260 with my 285 and it gets about 75% usage with PhysX on high in Metro 2033 and Mafia 2. So a 280 will most likely be maxed out by a 590

Yup, just trade w/ your brother.

A GTX 260 is plenty for physx, so anything above that is kind of a waste. But hey, a GTX 590 w/ a GTX 280 dedicated physx is one slick setup!

Yeah, it's a win-win to trade with your brother. You're both better off.

You get a 280 GPU instead of a 270 GPU for PhysX. He gets 2x 270s instead of 1x 280. No-brainer .
